Proton has partnered with Grab to expand its vehicle fleet by including both the S70 and X-Series SUVs.

National automaker Proton has expanded its partnership with local e-hailing giant Grab to introduce more Proton models to its fleet. The expanded fleet will include models like the S70 and the X-Series SUVs (X50, X70, and X90), plus several additional benefits to support Grab’s driver-partners.

Presented during this partnership signing were Deputy CEO of Proton Edar Zhang Qiang and Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations & Mobility for Grab Malaysia. Also present were Ong Chee Wooi, Deputy Director of Sales of Proton Edar, Wan Hazran, Director of After Sales at Proton Edar, and Gerald Lian, Head of Driver Acquisition & Strategic Supply at Grab Malaysia.

With this expansion, Grab driver-partners can now choose from up to six Proton models including those under the GrabCar Plus and GrabCar (6-Seater) categories. In addition to the expanded range, this partnership also offers several incentives, such as cash rebates of up to RM13,000, a 5% service discount for the first two years or 40,000 km, and RM500 in fuel support.

This partnership is built upon the success of the “Saga Power Up for Grab Driver-Partners” campaign launched back in Nov 2024, where it has recorded 148 vehicle registrations for the Proton Saga.

“Our strengthened partnership with Grab Malaysia marks a crucial step in empowering the e-hailing sector. Proton is thrilled to make our S70 and premium X-series models more accessible to Grab drivers. For gig workers, this comprehensive programme extends beyond exclusive benefits to assurance of driving Proton cars,” said Ong Chee Wooi.

“We are excited to deepen our collaboration with PROTON, a testament to our unwavering commitment to empowering Malaysians with flexible opportunities. This collaboration has made it easier for our driver-partners to access vehicles, enabling them to earn and support their families while meeting the growing demand for rides,” Rashid Shukor commented.
