MRT3 Gets MOT Approval, Completion Set for 2026

The MRT3 Circle Line has officially received the go ahead from the Ministry of Transport, marking a key milestone in the Klang Valley’s rail line development. The 51.6 KM route, designed to complete the city’s rail loop, is now on track for full completion by the end of 2026.
MRT Corp made the announcement recently, confirming that Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook had formally signed off on the Final Railway Scheme following a public inspection exercise conducted from Sept to Dec 2024.

The company celebrated the announcement on Facebook, thanking the 45,000 Malaysians who provided feedback during the public review where a remarkable 93.3% showed strong support for the project.
MRT Corp also revealed that the route has been fine-tuned in response to public input. The number of affected land lots has been reduced from 1,012 to 690, while adjustments have been made to station and viaduct locations to minimise disruption to communities.
Land acquisition will begin immediately and MRT Corp will continue to engage impacted residents and businesses, offering updates on changes specific to each location.

CEO Zarif Hashim extended his gratitude to MPs, Selangor state assemblymen, local councils and business groups for their cooperation and input throughout the consultation period, which helped shape the final alignment.
The Circle Line will include 10 interchange stations and connect with the existing MRT, LRT, KTM and Monorail networks, making it a critical link in the city’s broader transit ecosystem.
Once operational, the line will be able to carry up to 25,000 passengers per hour per direction where a full journey across the network is expected to take 73 minutes.
