RTS Link On Track As Bukit Chagar Hub Completed
The Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link has reached a significant construction milestone with the completion of its immigration and customs complex at Bukit Chagar.
The Bukit Chagar facility will house both Malaysian and Singaporean border authorities under one roof, marking the first co-located clearance system of its kind in Southeast Asia.
MRT Corp, which oversees Malaysia’s portion of the project, confirmed that internal works and facade installations at the terminal will begin in September.
The project remains on schedule for operations to begin on 31 December 2026.

“This reflects a collective commitment to deliver a transport system that serves national and regional priorities,” said MRT Corp chief executive Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim during a project update.
Progress is also evident along the rest of the corridor. Structural work on the marine viaduct, Bukit Chagar station, and Wadi Hana depot is now complete.
Interior works at the depot are expected to finish by year-end, with the power supply there activated two months ahead of schedule. Installation of the station’s roof facade is currently underway.
The next major stage will be dynamic testing of the full train system, scheduled for May 2026. This phase will involve trial runs from the Wadi Hana depot through all stations to validate performance and system readiness.

Zarif also noted that MRT Corp remains focused on delivering an efficient, safe, and high-performing infrastructure asset.
“This level of progress is only possible with consistent support from the Ministry of Transport, the Johor government, and our project partners,” he affirmed.
Once completed, the RTS Link will connect Bukit Chagar to Woodlands North in Singapore.

The system will operate eight driverless train sets, each comprising four cars and capable of carrying over 600 passengers per trip. It will support peak-hour capacity of up to 10,000 passengers in each direction.
