Second Motoryclist Killed On The DASH Flyover

A 23 year-old man was killed on Thursday (July 24) after his Yamaha YZF-R15 skidded and crashed into a divider on the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH), flinging him off the flyover.
The incident happened at around 4.45PM near the 1/B 0.5 exit. According to Shah Alam Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the rider was thrown off the elevated section and fell about 21 metres onto a grassy area along Persiaran Pulau Angsa.
The victim, who worked as an IT support staff, suffered serious head and leg injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact Inspector Nur Iqmal Maisarah Binti Azman at 012-2836851.
This marks the second reported fatal incident on the DASH highway this year involving a rider falling off the flyover.

Back on Feb 26, a 30 year-old woman was killed in a similar accident. She had lost control while navigating a bend, and after grazing a car in front, was thrown off the highway from an estimated height of 30 to 35 metres.
When DASH opened in Oct 2022, we at Carz.com.my did a short review of the expressway and raised concerns about safety, particularly the low walls and sharp, uneven bends.
Sadly, nearly three years later, it appears that little has been done to address these risks. The same dangerous bends, poor road surfaces and especially the low barriers remain.

How many more lives must be lost before real action is taken? What if, next time, a motorcycle or car ends up falling onto vehicles passing below?
We believe it’s high time for Prolintas, along with the Works Ministry and the Ministry of Transport, to step in and make real changes to ensure this elevated expressway is truly safe for all users.
