DASH - Second Rider Falls In A Month, Third Death Since Opening
\
A 19-year-old college student was killed on Saturday (Aug 23) after his Yamaha 135LC skidded and struck the divider on the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH), throwing him off the flyover.

The crash occurred at about 10:40AM near the Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari access. Shah Alam Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the rider lost control while navigating a bend and hit the divider, before plunging some 21 metres onto a grassy stretch along Persiaran Pulau Angsa.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Witnesses are urged to contact Inspector Nur Iqmal Maisarah Binti Azman at 012-2836851.
This is the third reported fatality on DASH involving a motorcyclist falling from the elevated highway since its opening, and the second in just one month. Yet, despite last month’s tragedy, neither the operator Prolintas, the Works Ministry (KKR), nor the highway authorities have offered any response.

How many more lives must be lost before real action is taken? In many countries, motorcycles are barred from elevated highways due to safety concerns. With sharp bends, uneven surfaces and alarmingly low barriers, DASH has long been flagged as unsafe for two-wheelers.
Until decisive steps are taken, the risks remain clear. It is only a matter of time before another rider or a vehicle below becomes the next victim.
