LRT3 Shah Alam Line Opening Could Be Delayed to Oct 31 – Report
The LRT3 Shah Alam line opening could be delayed until Oct 31 instead of the planned launch date of Sept 30.
The LRT3 Shah Alam line is due to be opened later on Sept 30, 2025, but the new metro line could miss its much-anticipated planned debut, The Star reports.
This comes after the governing body for the LRT3 line announced on its Facebook page that it is currently conducting 24-hour train testing and commissioning activities along the LRT3 line from Bandar Utama station to its depot in Johan Setia.
As of now, the body did not state how long these testing and commissioning activities will take, although an earlier version of said Facebook post suggested that these processes will go on until Oct 31, 2025, which is about a month past the original planned launch date on Sept 30.
Malaysian Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke
By end-July 2025, the LRT3 project was already at 99% completion, with Transport Minister (MoT) Anthony Loke revealing that the cost of the whole project now stands at RM21.93 billion, which is RM9.72 billion less than the originally approved budget back in 2015.
Once completed, the new LRT3 Shah Alam line will feature 25 stations, running from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang, with several interchange stations, including Bandar Utama for the MRT Kajang line and Glenmarie for the LRT Kelana Jaya line.
