Mazda CX-80 Teased Online – Posh Three-Row SUV Launching Soon?
Besides the CX-60, it appears Bermaz is poised to launch the larger three-row Mazda CX-80 alongside it soon.

Previewed in the flesh last year during KLIMS 2024, both the Mazda CX-60 and its larger, three-row CX-80 twin mark a new turning point for the Japanese brand. In fact, both crossover SUVs are poised to take the Mazda brand into new waters.
And whilst we await the imminent launch of the CX-60, which has been opened for bookings since June with a tenntative RM199,000 starting price tag, distributors Bermaz Auto Berhad (Bermaz) appear eager to launch the larger CX-80 too.
Earlier this week, the firm dropped a new teaser for the CX-80 online via the Mazda Malaysia official Facebook page. Accompanying the teaser video were the #ComingSoon and #MazdaCX80 hashtags, thus signalling clear intent by the firm to launch it.
As a refresher, the CX-80 debuted globally back in April 2024, and it fall under Mazda’s new Large Product group. It’s constructed on the automaker’s new Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture platform featuring a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout.

Bermaz had previewed the CX-80 during KLIMS 2024 prior, but gave no hints towards launch plans.


Versus the CX-60, the CX-80 sits 250 MM longer at 4,995 MM, 25 MM taller at 1,710 MM, and it has a 250 MM longer wheelbase too. Both crossovers share the same 1,890 MM width.
Under the hood, the CX-80 features a range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains available, though these are very much market dependent. For now, it remains unclear as to which powerplant the CX-80 for Malaysia would adopt.

For reference, the CX-80 is marketed in Japan firstly with 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv-PHEV 4-cyl petrol mill rated at 189 HP and 261 NM, followed by a 3.3-litre e-Skyactiv-D in-line 6-cyl turbodiesel with 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system outputting 251 HP and 550 NM.
There’s also a third choice in the form of a 3.3-litre Skyactiv-D in-line 6-cyl turbodiesel lump sans any added electrification. This package offers 228 HP and a rather meaty 500 NM. This variant also has the choice between rear- (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) too.

On board, the CX-80 sees both six- and seven-seat layouts available, the former bringing a pair of second row captain seats too.

Naturally, with its larger size and extra row of seats, expect the CX-80 to command a higher starting price tag over the CX-60 which, as mentioned, tentatively starts from RM199,000.
Unclear for now too is the model’s launch timeline, but we can perhaps expect this to occur shortly after smaller CX-60 model’s launch planned by Bermaz for this year.
