Merdeka Rehearsal & Celebration Sees Road Closures In Putrajaya From Aug 26 to Aug 31
Several major roads in Putrajaya will be closed later this month as the city prepares for the 68th National Day parade.
From Aug 26 to Aug 29, a total of 14 roads will be closed daily between 6AM and 12PM for full-dress rehearsals. The affected stretches are:
- Lebuh Wawasan/Persiaran Perdana
- Jalan Tun Razak/Lebuh Bestari
- Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan P2K
- Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Pembangunan
- Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan P3C
- Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan P3F
- Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Kemerdekaan
- Lebuh Setia/Jalan Perpaduan
- Lebuh Saujana/Persiaran Perdana
- Lebuh Setia/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Jalan Kemerdekaan/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Jalan Pembangunan/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Lebuh Bestari/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Dataran Putra/Persiaran Perdana
The restrictions will tighten further on Aug 29, when 14 entry points into Putrajaya’s Core Island will be closed from 10PM, remaining shut until the end of celebrations on Aug 31.
These include:
- Lingkaran Putrajaya/Jambatan Saujana
- Lebuh Sentosa/Lebuh Wawasan
- Lebuh Wawasan traffic light/Jambatan Wawasan
- Lebuh Sentosa turnoff/Lebuh Wawasan
- Lebuh Wawasan traffic light/Jalan P8H
- Salahuddin Roundabout/Dataran Perdana
- Lebuh Bestari traffic light/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Jalan Pembangunan traffic light/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Jalan Kemerdekaan traffic light-P18/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Lebuh Setia traffic light/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Lebuh Saujana traffic light/Jalan Tun Hussein
- Lingkaran Gemilang Satu traffic light/Persiaran Perdana
- Lebuh Gemilang traffic light/Persiaran Perdana–Jambatan Gemilang
- Lebuh Sentosa/Jambatan Saujana
To ease congestion, visitors are encouraged to arrive early and use the free shuttle bus service, which will run every 15 minutes from three pickup points.
KL Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said over 2,700 officers and personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and security as the celebrations are expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors.
A special Anti-Crime Operation will also be mounted on Merdeka Eve, focusing on crowded areas and high-risk zones across the federal capital.
