BUDI95 Fuel Shortfall Claims Untrue - KPDN
The Penang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has dismissed claims that petrol stations under the BUDI95 programme are giving customers less fuel than they paid for.
State director S. Jegan said nine complaints have been received since the programme began on Sept 30, but only three fell under the ministry’s scope, all involving allegations of inaccurate fuel readings.
“One customer claimed they pumped RM30 worth of petrol but felt the litres received were less than expected

We sent officers to check, and tests confirmed the pump’s calibration was accurate and within the certified period,” he said in a BH report.
Jegan said most complaints stem from user confusion rather than actual discrepancies, with some drivers misreading the pump display or assuming a mismatch based on rough estimates.
Still, he assured that KPDN will continue regular inspections to ensure the BUDI95 programme runs smoothly and consumer rights are protected.

The BUDI95 scheme, launched nationwide on Sept 30, allows 16 million eligible Malaysians to buy RON95 petrol at a subsidised rate of RM1.99 per litre using MyKad verification.
Jegan reminded consumers to report issues through official KPDN channels and avoid spreading unverified claims online, adding that the ministry remains committed to maintaining transparency and fairness under the subsidy programme.
