Proton e.MAS 5 Charts 3,000 Bookings, e.MAS 7 Sales Reached 6,655 Units
The Proton e.MAS 5 has achieved 3,000 bookings, while the e.MAS 7 continues to lead local EV sales with 6,655 units.
The upcoming Proton e.MAS 5 EV has just achieved 3,000 bookings in the first week of its booking commencement, with a total of 1,607 orders recorded in the first 24 hours.
Proton e.MAS 7 continues its lead as the top-selling EV model in Malaysia for 2025.
This positive reception towards Proton’s second EV model stems from the success of its first model, the Proton e.MAS 7, as it continues to lead Malaysia’s EV market this year. As of Sept 30, 2025, the e.MAS 7 EV SUV has recorded a cumulative sale of 6,655 units, with 6,212 sold locally and 443 exported.
With this, the Proton e.MAS 7 has extended its lead as Malaysia’s best-selling EV for nine months, with an EV market share of 24%.
Back to the e.MAS 5, this B-segment EV hatch was opened for booking earlier this month. Dubbed the most affordable EV in Malaysia, the e.MAS 5 comes with a tentative price range between RM60,000 and RM80,000.
Despite its affordability, the e.MAS 5 is brimming with modern amenities, sufficient performance, and surprisingly decent practicality to back it up. Some key amenities primed here include a large 14.6-inch display head unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a spacious interior space with flat flooring and up to 32 individual storage compartments, as well as a decent 375-litre boot space with a 70-litre frunk.
Billed as an urban-oriented EV hatch, the e.MAS 5 boasts up to 325 km of WLTP range, thanks to its 40.16-kWh LFP battery pack, which is more than enough for your daily commute and occasional weekend getaways. Power is provided by a single, rear-mounted electric motor rated at 114 hp, thus making it one of the only few rear-wheel drive (RWD) hatchbacks on sale here in Malaysia.
Bookings for the upcoming Proton e.MAS 5 are still open at any of the 30 Proton e.MAS outlets nationwide, or alternatively via Proton e.MAS’ official website. The first 5,000 customers who book the EV hatch are entitled to a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ‘n Go NFC Card pre-loaded with RM100, plus a RM500 rebate on the booking fee.
