STAR Systems & Touch ’n Go Confirm Malaysia’s First Operational MLFF Trial

Following Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan’s statement that a Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) proof of concept is underway at the Alam Impian toll on the LKSA, STAR Systems International (SSI) has confirmed the pilot is already live and performing strongly under real traffic conditions.
The global tolling technology firm announced the successful rollout of its MLFF system in Kuala Lumpur, developed in collaboration with Touch ’n Go and SIDRA. The initiative marks a major step in Malaysia’s shift from traditional toll plazas to high-speed, contactless and fully automated tolling.
At the heart of the system are SSI’s Titan Pro reader and Avior antenna, designed for high-speed precision and seamless compatibility with existing infrastructure. Retrofitted onto an existing gantry, the system runs autonomously alongside conventional toll operations, achieving 100 per cent vehicle detection and over 99.98% tag read accuracy in real-world conditions.

SIDRA’s PARSEC lane control platform integrates SSI’s hardware with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and 3D LiDAR sensors, creating a unified, responsive ecosystem capable of managing complex vehicle flows with exceptional accuracy.
“The Titan Pro and Avior are engineered for high-speed, multi-lane environments where reliability and precision are critical,” said Stephen Lockhart, Chief Technology Officer of STAR Systems International. “Through SIDRA’s PARSEC integration, we’ve created a tightly connected and high-performance tolling system.”

Developed in partnership with Touch ’n Go, the project demonstrates how cutting-edge tolling technology can work hand in hand with Malaysia’s cashless payment ecosystem to enhance efficiency and convenience for road users.
With its strong performance in Kuala Lumpur, SSI’s MLFF pilot sets a new benchmark for next-generation tolling in Southeast Asia, showing that legacy systems can be modernised smoothly and that truly barrier-free travel is now within reach.
