2026 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Debuts in China – Fifth-Gen Model, Two Exterior Styles

The all-new, fifth-gen Chery Tiggo 8 Pro breaks cover in China with two front face styles and engine options.
Several weeks after its first images were released, the all-new, fifth-gen Chery Tiggo 8 Pro has finally made its debut in China. For its fifth-generation iteration, this midsize SUV comes with two distinct front face styles with two cabin layouts, two powertrain options, plus a strictly two-row five-seater layout.

2026 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 'Tiger' face
The first version comes with the Tiger front design, which looks like an evolution from the previous-gen Tiggo 8 Pro model. It features new sharp LED headlights with dual DRLs, a large front grille with diamond inserts, and a pair of vertical side vents for better aerodynamic performance.

2026 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 'Leopard' face
Meanwhile, the second version, known as the Leopard face, is essentially a China-spec version of the Lepas L8 SUV, featuring dual-stack LED headlights with slim LED DRLs sitting on top. The front grille design is also carried from the L8, featuring a more enclosed design with crosshatch inserts for a sleeker, EV-like appearance.

The rest of the exterior is more or less similar for both versions, where it features a fairly sleek side profile named the ‘Hunting Shadow’ with flushed door handles, blacked-out pillars, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, both versions get the same sleek full-width LED taillights with the Chery lettering spelled out on top of it, plus a sporty rear bumper accent with dual tailpipes.
Dimension-wise, the Tiggo 8 Pro Tiger face is slightly longer than the Leopard version, measuring 4,749 mm and 4,725 mm, respectively. That said, both versions get the same wheelbase of 2,825 mm and also sit 1,880 mm wide.

The difference between the Tiger and Leopard versions continues as we get inside, where the former features a ‘Dawn Forest Wrap’ cockpit layout, featuring a large 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen at the centre. As for the Leopard version, it gets a more futuristic ‘Galaxy Jungle Dynamic’ layout, which features a smaller, portrait-oriented 13.2-inch central infotainment display.
That said, both these screens are mated to the same 10.25-inch digital metre cluster, while being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip that allows an AI voice assistant, a built-in navigation system, and multiple wireless smartphone integrations, including Apple CarPlay.

Interestingly, the new Tiggo 8 Pro now only comes in a two-row, five-seater form, meaning that a three-row, seven-seater version is currently not available, at least for the Chinese market. Other amenities primed here include a 50-watt wireless charger, folding tables for rear passengers, an eight-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats with massage functions, ENC active noise cancellation, and many more.

As of now, the new Tiggo 8 Pro is offered with two pure combustion powertrain options, with the first one being the updated version of Chery’s Kunpeng 1.6-litre 4-cyl TGDi that is mated to a 7-speed DCT to output 215 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm. There’s also a peppier 2.0-litre 4-cyl TGDi option, which is mated to an 8-speed AT gearbox delivering up to 282 hp (210 kW) and 430 Nm.
Depending on the trim level, buyers can get the new Tiggo 8 Pro with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system with seven selectable modes, plus the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) magnetic suspension system—the same setup offered to our market’s Omoda C9.

As for the driving assistance, the new Tiggo 8 Pro now comes equipped with Chery’s latest Falcon 500 ADAS suite that enables Level 2 autonomous driving support with highway navigation-on-autopilot (NoA), as well as memory and remote parking functions. In the future, the more advanced Falcon 700 suite will be offered to the Tiggo 8 Pro, which adds city NOA, valet parking, and intelligent summon capabilities.
Now available for purchase in China, the all-new, fifth-gen Chery Tiggo 8 Pro retails from CNY 99,900 (RM58,385) to CNY 129,900 (RM75,918). With the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV CSH recently debuting in Malaysia, could this new Tiggo 8 Pro make its local debut next year?
