Bentley Continental Supersports Unveiled as a 657 hp-Rated Lightweight RWD Tourer

Bentley’s new 657 hp-rated, rear-wheel-drive Continental Supersports is the brand’s most dynamic car to date.
Just over a year since the next-gen Continental GT debuted, Bentley is now bringing back the Supersports nameplate for its new two-door tourer. Say hello to the all-new, limited-edition Bentley Continental Supersports, which is dubbed the most dynamic car the Crewe-based marque has produced to date.
While the car is based on the current Continental GT, Bentley CEO Frank Walliser said the Supersports is “so different” from its standard twin, while at the same time setting several firsts for the brand.

For example, the Continental Supersports is the first rear-wheel drive (RWD) Continental model, is fitted with the largest front splitter of any production Bentley in history, and also boasts the most downforce of any road-legal Bentley ever made.

We’ll start with the powertrain setup, where the Supersports ditches all the electrification assists primed on the standard model, opting for the pure 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. To compensate for the lack of the hybrid system, Bentley engineers have fitted the V8 with a stronger crankcase, upgraded cylinder heads, and larger turbos.
As a result, the V8 lump now produces 657 hp and 800 Nm, making it boast the highest power density of any Bentley engine to date at 164 hp per litre. This setup is good enough to propel the Supersports from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

Said V8 mill is mated to the same 8-speed DCT gearbox from ZF as the standard Conti, although it has been slightly upgraded for sharper and more responsive shifts. And just like we mentioned earlier, all the power is now delivered exclusively to the rear wheels (RWD).
For better control and a more engaging drive, the engineers have widened the rear tracks of the car by 16 mm, while the torque vectoring system now combines with an electric limited-slip differential (eLSD) to enable sharper turn-in and maximise traction. On top of that, the Supersport also gets its own steering and suspension tuning, and both the rear-wheel steering and air suspensions are being kept.

Another key upgrade for the Supersports is in its extensive diet plan. Thanks to the removal of both the hybrid and the all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, as well as the carbon fibre roof and rear seats, the tourer now tips the scale at 2,000 kg. This may sound quite heavy for a sportscar standard, but it is still half a tonne lighter than the standard Continental GT Speed while being the lightest Bentley since the Mark V back in 1940.

Last but not least, the Continental Supersports also benefits from several aero upgrades and improvements, which are also reflected in its improved appearance. The most prominent change lies at the front, where it gets a new front bumper design featuring the largest front splitter seen in any production Bentley to date.

Also new here is the mesh front grille insert with a number 8 insignia, while the remaining exterior upgrades include the chunky side sills, large wing blades, a more prominent rear diffuser, a ducktail spoiler, and new 22-inch dual five-spoke aluminium wheels shod in optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres.

Inside, the Supersports gets a pretty race-inspired cabin design, featuring a slew of carbon fibre trims and accents. To mark the special edition model, each example of the Supersport will feature a numbered commemorative plate on the central console, plus several Supersports badges on the front dash and door sills.

Production for the all-new Bentley Continental Supersports will begin later in the fourth quarter next year, and only 500 numbered examples will be built, each priced at around £400,000 (RM2.173 million). That said, bookings can be made as early as March 2026, although we’d reckon all of them will be sold out in no time.
