Launched: smart #5 EV SUV – 2 Variants, From RM199,800*

The much-anticipated smart #5 EV SUV has debuted locally, featuring two variants for now priced from RM199,800.
After a series of previews and teasers, the much-anticipated smart #5 has finally made its Malaysian debut today. During the launch, this EV SUV will only be available in two variants, with prices starting at RM199,800 for the Premium and RM249,800 for the top-spec Brabus.

Mind you, the prices listed above are the special launch price, exclusive for the first 300 customers who book the #5 EV. Included with said prices are standard warranties such as a 4-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 200,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, an 8-year or 150,000 km high-voltage component warranty, a 2-year unlimited mileage spare parts warranty, and 24/7 roadside service assistance.
Each purchase of the smart #5 also comes with the smart all-inclusive premium ownership package, which includes a complimentary wallbox charger worth RM3,200, a complimentary V2L adaptor worth RM800, a complimentary 3-year internet data plan of 3 GB per month, and a free accessories package with six items worth RM2,000.

As a refresher, both the smart #5 Premium and Brabus share the same PMA2+ platform with an 800-volt battery architecture. Both models also use the same 100 kWh NMC-type battery pack that supports 22 kW AC and 400 kW DC charging inputs, with the latter method promising 10-80% re-charges in just 15 minutes.

On the powertrain front, the #5 Premium is powered by a single rear e-motor and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup rated at 358 hp and 373 Nm. This guise also promises a claimed maximum WLTP-rated range of 590 km.

With a total system output of 637 hp and 710 Nm, the smart #5 Brabus is also the most potent smart Automobiles model to date.
As for the Brabus performance range-topper, it packs a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup instead, with 637 hp and 710 Nm available. This variant promises 0-100 km/h sprints in just 3.8 secs, plus a 200 km/h V-Max and a WLTP-rated max range of 540 km.

smart #5 Premium
On the visual front, the #5 Premium sits as the less sporty variant of the two, with key exterior highlights including Cyberlight Matrix LED headlights with unique segmented LED DRLs that run across the front grille, LED taillights with a similar design as the front, flushed door handles, and illuminated smart emblems on its D-pillars.

Not to forget, the #5 Premium rolls on 20-inch alloy rims with aero-optimised design, plus four two-tone exterior colourways available for picking, namely Meta Black, Cyber Silver, Pulsar Ruby, and Saturn Beige—all with an Eclipse Black rooftop.

smart #5 Brabus
As for the #5 Brabus, it comes standard with the sporty Brabus bodykit comprising a front lip, side skirts, aggressive front and rear bumper garnishes, and a roof-mounted spoiler, as well as a slew of red and black-hued trims around the exterior. Also special for the range-topper are the 21-inch Brabus Monoblock alloy wheels finished in black, as well as three exterior colourways—Atom Matte Grey, Meta Black, and Digital White.

On-board, both the #5 Premium and Brabus get the same triple-screen setup, featuring the dual 13-inch infotainment screens plus a smaller 10.3-inch digital metre cluster with an expansive 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD).

Audio is provided by a 20-speaker, 2,000-watt Sennheiser Signature Sound System with Dolby Atmos surround sound, making it the first-ever car in the world to feature an audio system from this renowned German audio brand.

As for the seats, the launch version of the #5 Premium gets a full black Nappa leather upholstery instead of the brown ones seen on the preview model, while the Brabus gets its namesake’s signature red-and-black colourway with Brabus embossings on the headrests, as well as a slew of other Brabus-badged parts.

On the safety front, both the smart #5 Premium and Brabus get the full active safety package, featuring ADAS functions like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane-Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Front (FCTA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), Full Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA), and many more.
