Malaysia Autoshow Expands With Penang And Johor Editions In 2026
The Malaysia Autoshow is set to expand with two smaller regional editions held in both Penang and Johor next year.

With an agreement in place to alternate with the MAA-runned KL International Mobility Show (KLIMS) bi-annually, the Malaysia Autoshow (MAS) will instead see smaller new regional editions held in both Penang and Johor next year (2026).
Show organisers the Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii) officially announced this in a special press conference and soft-launch held last week during the GATE 2025 expo held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last week.
The announcement and soft launch of the Penang Autoshow 2026 and Johor Autoshow 2026 was held at the recent GATE 2025 expo. Overseeing this from MARii was its Chairman Datuk Aminar Rashid (centre).

“Our mission remains unchanged. The drive to bring the latest automotive innovations closer to Malaysians will not stop at one venue or one city," said Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii, via press release issued from said conference, which was over seen by Datuk Aminar Rashid, Chairman of MARii.
“With this approach, we are not only expanding our reach, but also strengthening the development of the national automotive ecosystem in a more inclusive manner in line with the National Automotive Policy 2020,” adds Reza further.
The first of these regional editions of MAS will take pace in Penang, and it’s scheduled for May 2026 as the Penang Autoshow 2026. Next comes the Johor Autoshow 2026, and this is slated to take place later in Aug 2026 instead.
Both Penang and Johor states were chosen for their key strategic importance to the industry plus the increased adoption of NEVs.

According to MARii, both states were selected for their respective strategic importance to Malaysia’s automotive landscape. The institute also notes the increased adoption of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in both states as another reason too.
Like its main show held annually until this year at MAEPS, Serdang, both the Penang and Johor Autoshow 2026 events will also see visitors able to participate in test-drives, car gatherings, and indulge in auto fashion shows, amongst many other highlights.

Held back in May this year, MAS 2025 pulled roughly 300,000 visitors and generated over RM1.72 billion in potential sales.

More activities and experiential showcases will also be announced in the coming months as plans for events progresses, promises MARii further.
As a refresher, this year’s edition of the Malaysia Autoshow (MAS 2025) held in MAEPS, Serdang back in May successfully attracted 300,000 visitors and generated over RM1.72 billion in potential sales.
