New Mitsubishi Triton 'Street' Variant Bows in Thailand
Mitsubishi has released a new 'Street' variant of its third-gen Triton pick-up truck in Thailand this week.

Launched in the Kingdom renowned for its love of pick-up trucks this week is the new Mitsubishi Triton Street variant pictured. What sets this apart from the new Triton model we are familiar with are both its different front fascia and ‘Mega Cab’ layout.
Unique here is the 'Mega Cab' layout adopted by the Triton Street - essentially an extended single-cab.

For the uninitiated, Mitsubishi’s ‘Mega Cab’– also called ‘Smart Cab’, ‘King Cab’, ‘Super Cab’, or ‘One and a half cab’, depending on manufacturer preference – is essentially an extended single-cab.
This layout is meant to balance between cargo capacity and occasional passenger seating. The latter stemming from the fact that some – not all – of these offer a small second row passenger seat bench.
For this genre, correlating with seat numbers too are the number of doors primed. Most two-seater models have just two doors, whereas some with more seats come with Rolls-Royce-styled coach doors (suicide doors) with an extra pair of smaller rear-hinged doors.
The Triton Street succeeds the previous-gen model's Mega Cab 2.4 Active variant.

Besides its 17-inch alloy wheels, unique to the Street variant too is its distinct front profile featuring a six-sided intake grille design.

In the case of the new Triton Street, it’s a much simpler affair as it is essentially a two-doored, two-seat extended single cab offering. The Japanese tri-diamond marque launched the model to succeed the previous-gen’s Mega Cab 2.4 Active variant.
According to Thai sources, this new Triton Street variant underpins the same bones as its predecessor noted prior, thus explaining the slightly different looks. This is evident up front as the Street rocks a totally different front profile versus the latest third-gen Triton.
Key to the latter is a six-sided intake grille and a new front bumper with a large portion – absent foglamp surrounds included – dressed in black. As for rolling stock, the Street gains arguably tasty variant-specific 17-inch alloy wheels dressed in black too.

This iteration of the Triton employs a 'normal-powered' version of Mitsubishi's 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel mill, and it's paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual box and RWD setup.

Under the hood, the Triton Street employs the ‘normal-powered’ version of Mitsubishi’s renewed 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel mill outputting a claimed 148 hp and 330 Nm. Said mill is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Typical of most low-riding single cabs sold in Thailand, the Triton Street does NOT feature a part-time four-wheel-drive (4WD) setup, making it rear-wheel-drive (RWD) only. It does however boast a brake-type active limited-slip diff for which.

This is a very basic pick-up truck, evident by its adoption of fabric seats and single-zone manual air-cond. It does however get a sizeable 10-inch infotainment touchscreen loaded with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Given this variant’s positioning as a ‘basic’ offering, the kit list reflects that fact firstly through its adoption of fabric seat. Another clear signal of this pick-up truck’s basic nature are its multi-reflector halogen headlamps brimmed up front.
Present in the cabin though is a sizeable 10-inch touchscreen infotainment primed with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it is paired with just two speakers.
As for safety, the basics are covered by two airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, active stability and traction control (ASC & TCS) suites, along with hill-start assist (HAS). The Triton Street does have some ADAS features brimmed, namely forward collision mitigation (FCM) with pedestrian detection – a ‘basic’ form of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).
Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) is the only ADAS feature brimmed - essentially a form of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

For the Thai market, Mitsubishi has priced the new Triton Street at the same THB649,000 (approx. RM84,500) figure as its Mega Cab 2.4 Active predecessor mentioned.
Included in said price is a 5-year or 150,000 KM warranty, 24-hour emergency assist, and free service labour for 5 years or 100,000 KM.
