Updated Geely Haoyue L Bows In China – Next-Gen Proton X90 Previewed?
Geely has released a new second-gen iteration of its Haoyue L D-SUV offeirng in China. If the name sounds faimiliar, the model's predecessor is the base of the Proton X90.

Chinese automaker Geely has updated its second-gen Haoyue L three-row D-segment SUV offering in its home market of China, reports CarNewsChina.
If the name sounds familiar, the model’s predecessor is also rebadged overseas as the Geely Okavango or, in the case of us here in Malaysia, the Proton X90.
One key change is a refreshed 1.5-litre turbo petrol mill slotted below the existing 2.0-litre turbo choice. Both are still paired with a 8-speed DCT box though.

This second-generation version of the Chinese automaker's mid-sized three-row SUV offering see four variants available with two powertrain choices on offer, and the latter includes a brand-new 1.5-litre turbo mill option slotted below the existing 2.0-litre mill.
Said new 1.5-litre turbo mill outputs 178 PS and 290 Nm, whereas the 2.0-litre mill mentioned puts out 215 PS and 325 Nm. Both are paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic and front-wheel-drive (FWD).
There are plenty of exterior and interior styling revisions to note in this second-gen iteration.

Exterior changes see a reshaped polygonal grille, new bumper design, larger decorative vents, not forgetting a refreshed iteration of Geely’s signature straight-vertical grille. As standard, the Haoyue L rolls on 19-inch or 20-inch rolling stock – depending on variant.
In terms of size, the Haoyue L sits 4,865 MM long with a 2,825 MM wheelbase, 1,910 MM wide and 1,770 MM tall. In turn, the Haoyue L offers a maximum boot space of 2,050 litres with the third-row seats folded flat.
At 4,865 MM long with a 2,825 MM wheelbase, the Haoyue L can accommodate up to three rows of seats for either 6- or 7-seat layouts. A more traditional two-row (5-seat) layout choice is also available.

On board, interior revisions firstly see new soft-touch trims donning the cabin. Two interior colour choices are available on hand too. Critically, Geely offers the choice between two- (5-seats) and three-rows (6- and 7-seats) seating layouts too.
The coveted 6-seater naturally brings second-row captain seats offering heating, ventilation and massage functions to boot.
On board, the cabin is now decked out with new soft-touch trims and gets two colour choices. Revised too are its digital infotainment and instrumentation displays, both now running on Flyme Auto software too.

Next comes both a sizeable new 14.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, both running the Flyme Auto software boasting smartphone integration and connected navigation functions.
Naturally, higher-end guises gain Level 2-rated advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features encompassing Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), collision alerts, lane-keeping assist and -departure prevention, as well as a 540-degree camera suite.

Would you fancied the Proton X90 better had it been based on this version of the Geely Haoyue L?

In China, the new second-gen Geely Haoyue L detailed rivals strongly against the likes of the Chery Tiggo 8, Jetour X70 (VT9), as well as the three-row version of the GWM Haval H6 (known as the H6L).
As for price, the Haoyue L is tagged between RMB99,900 (RM58,265) and RMB129,900 (RM75,762), depending on variant.
Could we possibly see the Proton X90 refreshed in the same manner in the coming years? If so, would you fancy said three-row D-SUV offering better? Hit the comments below without take on things…
