Wuling Binguo S Gains New Variant With Longer 525 KM Range
Launched back in Aug this year was the Wuling Binguo S - also marketed as the Bingo S - EV hatch. Now, it seems the model is set to gain a new variant.

Recently launched in China back in Aug, the new Wuling Binguo S all-electric (EV) B-segment hatchback appears to be a rather appealing proposition. Perhaps what hampers it for some is its somewhat paltry range figures – a maximum of 430 KM (CLTC) was touted.
Now, it seems its makers – SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) – seek to address said cries for more range in its Chinese home market at least. Revealed recently is a new variant of the nameplate that packs a larger battery pack that subsequently yields longer range.
Also called the ‘Bingo S’ in select overseas market, details for said new variant was revealed via documents filed by the automaking coalition with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

New images leaked from a MIIT filing indicates that the Wuling Binguo S is set to gain a new variant packing a larger battery and offer longer range.

From which, Chinese sources online report it gains a larger new 52.9 kWh battery pack, marking a significant bump up from the existing model’s 31.9 kWh and 41.9 kWh choices. For the latter, up to 325 KM and 430 KM of CLTC-rated range figures were touted each.
With the larger new pack noted, the Binguo S is set to yield a significantly longer 525 KM CLTC-rated range instead. Whilst we’ll acknowledge just how ‘loose’ CLTC range calculation standards are, we’re certain this is a welcoming addition nonetheless.
Apart from which, it appears there are no changes to note from the driveline – this new variant of the Binguo S continues to harness a front-mounted e-motor driving the front wheels (FWD) with 75 kW (102 PS) and 180 Nm.

Despite filing this new variant with MIIT, SGMW did not disclose when exactly it plans to launch this new variant of the Wuling Binguo S (Bingo S) domestically in China. However, Chinese sources online widely speculate this will occur soon enough.
As a refresher, the Binguo S debuted this year as a direct rival to the latest-gen MG 4 EV hatch. It also boasts friendly compact dimensions, sitting some 4,265 mm long with a 2,610 mm wheelbase, 1,785 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall.
On board, the BInguo S packs key tech such as an 8.88-inch digital instrument panel, 12.8-inch floating central touchscreen infotainment with a six-speaker audio setup, 50-watt wireless charging pad, as well as a shift-by-wire gear selector, amongst many.
As for safety, the Binguo S sees SGMW lacing it with highlights such as a tyre-pressure monitoring syste (TPMS) and a panoramic camera as standard. Other amenities brimmed include cruise control, Bluetooth key, and a power-adjustable driver seat.

Closer to home, it’s unclear if this newer ,better-equipped Binguo S will make landfall anytime soon. Instead, its smaller sibling the Binguo – badged as the TQ Wuling Bingo – will soon launch as a localised (CKD) offering that promises a sub-RM100,000 price tag.
