Chery Jetour F700 Breaks Cover, Rugged New Hybrid Pickup
-full_normal.jpg)
Leaked images from Autohome and CarNewsChina have revealed the Jetour F700, offering an early look at the upcoming off-road pickup from Chery’s Jetour sub-brand.
Positioned as the rugged counterpart to the G700 SUV, the F700 carries over the marque’s square-edged design language and is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, although final specifications have yet to be confirmed.

The exterior draws heavily from the G700, incorporating rectangular LED daytime running lights, a wide squared-off grille likely wearing the Jetour badge and off-road–focused bumpers with a generous approach angle. The lifted stance, pronounced shoulder lines and polygonal taillights give it a purposeful, utility-driven look similar to domestic competitors such as the BYD Shark 6.
Inside, the cabin appears to mirror much of the G700’s layout. A squared-off dashboard sets a robust tone, while a 15.6-inch floating infotainment display and a 35.4-inch panoramic screen spanning the width of the dash bring a strong digital presence to the interior. The result combines a tough aesthetic with sophisticated cabin tech, a direction increasingly common among China’s new-generation off-roaders.

Leaked information suggests the F700 may use Jetour’s Kunpeng CDM-O plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 2.0TD hybrid-dedicated engine with multiple electric motors. Early numbers hint at substantial combined output and the use of a dual-layer 4C battery capable of rapid charging, though none of these details have been confirmed by Chery.
Pricing speculation places the model at around US$46,300 (RM190,000).

While the F700 is expected to debut in China first, its overall setup naturally prompts questions about whether Jetour could consider a broader rollout later on. Interest in electrified pickups is growing across several RHD markets, and regions like Thailand, Australia and potentially Malaysia could emerge as future opportunities, even though no export direction has been indicated so far.

Malaysia’s accelerating EV adoption and Thailand’s role as a major pickup market could, in theory, create space for new hybrid entrants should Jetour choose to explore the region. Australia, with its strong demand for lifestyle-oriented utes, also presents potential, though market responses can vary widely.
The experience of the BYD Shark highlights this uncertainty. Despite being previewed in Malaysia recently, its Thai launch was cancelled due to softer than expected demand, yet the model continues to find traction in Australia. This mixed outcome underscores how unpredictable the reception for electrified pickups can be across different markets.
