Jetour Zongheng G700 Debuts in China – Off-Road PHEV SUV with 1,400 km Range

The all-new Jetour Zongheng G700 breaks cover in China as an off-road-ready PHEV SUV with up to 1,400 km of range.
Aside from models from Omoda & Jaecoo and Chery, the Chery International User Summit (CIUS) 2025 also sets the stage for the group’s new off-road-ready plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV, the Jetour Zongheng G700.

Launched under Jetour’s new Zongheng premium sub-brand, the G700 adopts the now popular boxy SUV bodystyle with some aggressive off-road design bits. Some key design highlights include a massive front grille flanked by rectangular LED headlights, aggressive underbody claddings, 20-inch wheels shod in HT tyres, automated side steps, a spare wheel cover on the tailgate, and many more.

Positioned as Jetour’s large 4x4 SUV, the G700 is 5,198 mm long, 2,050 mm wide, and 1,956 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm, thus making it slightly bigger than other popular 4x4 SUVs such as the GWM Tank 500, Toyota Land Cruiser 300, and many more.

Despite its rugged exterior, the G700 gets a pretty posh cabin setup, featuring both two- and three-row seating layouts, with the latter featuring a 2-2-2 six-seater configuration. Up front, drivers will be greeted by an expansive 35.4-inch digital metre cluster that spans across the front dash, complemented by a large 15.6-inch central infotainment screen.

Despite the screen-laden setup, the SUV is still laden with physical controls and buttons located on the central console, including specific ones for the climate system, driving modes, diff-locks, and many more. That said, the actual gear selector is now mounted on the right side of the steering column for easier access.

All seats inside the G700 are wrapped in plush synthetic leather upholstery, with both the first- and second-row seats powered, heated, and ventilated. Speaking of the second row, passengers will get their own dedicated infotainment screen mounted on the roof, at least for the top-spec model. Rounding off the cabin amenities list for the G700 are the Lexicon speakers, multi-colour ambient lights, a split panoramic sunroof, and many more.

Beneath its rugged facade, the G700 underpins Chery’s proprietary Kunpeng plug-in hybrid system that features a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbodiesel engine rated at 208 hp and 340 Nm as its core. Said diesel lump is then mated to two electric motors and a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) to deliver a combined system output of 892 hp (665 kW) and 1,135 Nm of twist, allowing this large SUV to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

Juice is provided by a large 31.4-kWh LFP battery pack that provides up to 150 km of EV-only range, plus a comprehensive range of up to 1,400 km when combined with its equally large 100-litre fuel tank. Charging-wise, this battery pack supports up to 4C fast charging methods, allowing the G700 to be charged from 20% to 80% in just 10 minutes.

To put its PHEV system to the test, Jetour has actually succeeded in driving the G700 across the Yangtze River, with the SUV crossing a 1.5-km stretch in Wuhu, China, at speeds of around 5-10 km/h. This challenge also highlighted the G700’s many technological features, including an external oxygen generator, a six-axis gyroscope, a seamless, hole-free painted body, an active air circulation system, and many more.

Sales for the new Jetour Zongheng G700 PHEV have started in native China, with prices ranging between CNY 329,900 and CNY 414,900 (RM195,724 to RM246,153). Chery Group previously stated their intention to export the G700 to overseas markets, so there’s a slight chance that this rugged PHEV SUV could hit our shores in the near future.
