Geely EX2 Debuts in Indonesia – Est. From RM56K, Cheaper Than e.MAS 5

The Geely EX2 goes on sale in Indonesia with an estimated price of RM56,000, making it cheaper than the Proton e.MAS 5.
Following its debut in Thailand, the Geely EX2 is now heading to the Indonesian market, retailing from IDR 233 million (RM56,209) onwards. This not only makes it one of the most affordable EVs in Indonesia but also cheaper than its Proton-badged twin, the Proton e.MAS 5, which currently retails from RM56,800 onwards, or RM59,800 without the special launch rebate.

The Indo-market EX2 follows the same specifications as its Thai siblings, featuring two variants—Pro and Max—both using the same single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor rated at 116 PS and 150 NM. Mind you, this is the same motor setup used on the top-spec Proton e.MAS 5 Premium, which Geely said is good for a century sprint time of 11.5 seconds.
The same goes for their battery specs, as both the EX2 Pro and Max use the same 40.8 kWh battery that is good for up to 395 km of NEDC range, Geely claims. This also means that the Indo-spec model didn’t get both the 30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh battery options offered to the e.MAS 5.

What truly separates both the EX2 Pro and EX2 Max is the equipment list, with key highlights for the former including automatic LED headlights, four airbags, manual front seats, a cityscape ambient lights design motif, a 70-litre frunk, and more.

Meanwhile, the top-spec EX2 Max ups the ante with a powered driver’s seat, six airbags, and a full ADAS suite, which includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), and more. That said, the Proton does carry several advantages over the Indo-spec EX2, as our local-spec e.MAS 5 does come standard with a powered tailgate and several ADAS functions even for the base Prime variant.
As for the colourways, the Indo-spec EX2 is offered with six options, including Nebula Beige, Comet Grey, Star Silver, Moon White, Aurora Pink, and Stellar Blue—the latter two are exclusive for the top-spec EX2 Max.

Unlike the Thai-spec model, the Indonesian Geely EX2 will be locally assembled (CKD) at PT Handal Indonesia Motor’s facility in Puwakarta, West Java, alongside both the local-spec EX5 and the Starray EM-i PHEV SUV.
