Mysterious Kia Fastback Concept Teased as the Stinger’s Successor

Kia’s new mysterious fastback concept was teased as a potential successor to the Stinger sports sedan.
Kia has just dropped a mysterious teaser featuring a sleek, fastback sports sedan. Unveiled via its official social media page, rumours and reports have suggested that the mysterious concept teased could potentially be the long-awaited successor to Kia’s beloved sports sedan, the Stinger.
From the shadow-draped teaser images, we can tell that the car boasts a pretty radical design, featuring a unique, supercar-like proportion with short overhangs and a long wheelbase, which indicates that it might not feature a combustion powertrain.

That said, we can see that the concept boasts a four-door configuration, while its heavily reclined front windscreen expands all the way to the rear part, giving the car a futuristic glass roof look. The rear part, on the other hand, features some familiar design cues seen on some of Kia’s latest models, with the most notable being its sleek L-shaped LED taillights.
While no interior images were shared by Kia for now, a little Photoshop magic reveals that the concept sports a yoke-style steering wheel, suggesting that it may use a steer-by-wire system.

Unfortunately, no specific names or dates have been unveiled alongside the teaser images, but given its four-door bodystyle and EV-like proportions, this mysterious concept could preview Kia’s upcoming EV sedan, potentially slotted between the EV6 crossover and the EV9 flagship SUV.

2022 Kia Stinger GT
This also explains the parallel between this mysterious concept and the Stinger sports sedan, which has been discontinued since 2023. Originally unveiled back in 2017, the Stinger marks the departure for Kia as a brand, as it went from being an economical vehicle manufacturer to a full-fledged marque that dabbled with vehicle dynamics and performance.
This was especially true with the top-spec Stinger GT, as Kia employed the help of several former BMW M engineers to tune this rear-wheel drive (RWD) fastback sedan, which then was offered with either a 2.0-litre turbo or a more manic 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 engine option.
Unlike Hyundai’s N performance models, Kia’s GT lineup seems quite bare-boned and tamed, so perhaps this mysterious four-door concept could change that in the future.
