Honda NSX ‘Tensei’ Restomod Unveiled by JAS Motorsport & Pininfarina

JAS has partnered with Pininfarina to reimagine the original Honda NSX for the modern era, known as the ‘Tensei.’
Following its first teaser earlier this year, Honda’s longtime racing partner JAS Motorsport, together with renowned Italian design house Pininfarina, has unveiled their new restomod project for the original Honda NSX known as the ‘Tensei.’
Translated to “rebirth” in Japanese, the Tensei restomod does not veer too far off from the original NSX, as it gets the same sporty mid-engined sportscar bodystyle with some modern design touches to make it more ‘relevant’ in 2025.

For starters, both JAS and Pininfarina have opted to retain the NSX’s original pop-up headlights on the Tensei, which have now been mated to a redesigned front bumper featuring sleeker LED DRLs and larger air curtains. Keen eyes will also notice that the Tensei adopts a vented bonnet, which looks similar to the one featured on the facelifted first-gen NSX-R (NA2).

The modernised front face is then accompanied by a more muscular profile, thanks to the new carbon fibre bodywork that also features vents behind the flared-out front fenders and larger rear quarter panel intakes. The rear design still pays homage to the original 1990 model, now featuring full-width LED taillights, dual tailpipes, and a new hoop rear wing.
Not to forget, the Tensei also rides on new dual five-spoke wheels, while the Honda badges have now been replaced by the JAS emblem, which completes the whole transformation for this restomod car.
While both JAS and Pininfarina have yet to unveil any official photos for the Tensei, they said that the restomod will be a fully functioning road car rather than a bare-bones, track-only machine.

The Tensei will be powered by a tuned version of the original NSX's V6 VTEC engine.
That said, we’ve also been told prior that the Tensei will have a tuned version of the old NSX’s 3.0-litre naturally-aspirated VTEC V6 engine, which could produce more power than its claimed original output of 270 hp. It will also come with a six-speed manual transmission and be available in both right- (RHD) and left-hand drive (LHD) forms.

We can expect to learn more about the Tensei as we get closer to its full global reveal, which Pininfarina says will take place sometime later in the first half of 2026. That being said, Carscoops reported that the new supercar restomod was revealed privately to a select group of customers at Fuji Speedway earlier in Nov this year, which leads them to believe that both JAS and Pininfarina may already be accepting orders for the Tensei.
