Earlier today, Naza Italia (Naza Auto) formally announced its intent to vacate its role as importer and distributor of the Stellantis-owned Maserati marque.

In a brief press statement issued earlier today, Naza Italia Sdn Bhd (Naza Italia) has formally announced its intent to discontinue its role as importer and distributor of Italian auto marque Maserati.

Part of the larger Naza Automotive Group (Naza Auto), the Naza Italia arm took up the roles mentioned for the embattled Stellantis-owned Trident marque since Jan 2009 – a year after it began operations as importer and distributor of the Ferrari marque (2008).

Naza Italia's flagship Maserati showroom located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Carz.com.my understands that the firm will still provide after-sales coverage to existing owners during the 180-day interim period noted.

The firm notes that it had formally submitted a notice to Maserati S.p.A. in accordance with the contractual 180-day requirement under its initial importer and distributorship agreement.

Notably, this decision to conclude as Maserati importers and distributors sees Naza Auto left with just one Italian brand in its portfolio, that being premium motorcycle marque Ducati via its Next Bike Sdn Bhd subsidiary.

At this point, a new importer and distributor to succeed Naza Italia has not been announced yet.

No official word yet on the fate for which. Carz.com.my has however been reliably informed that the Ducati distributorship for Malaysia could change hands too – perhaps as early as the first quarter (Q1) of next year (2026).

At this point, a new Maserati importer and distributor have not been appointed yet. Otherwise, Carz.com.my has understood that Naza Italia will continue providing after-sales coverage for existing customers and owners during this 180-day interim period.

Some of the major launched conducted by Naza Italia in recent years included the MC20 (MCPura), Grecale, and the second-gen GranTurismo.

Naza Italia last launched new metal in the form of electric-powered (EV) 'Folgore' versions of its second-gen GranTurismo luxury GT and Grecale compact luxury SUV back in June this year, both priced from RM998,800 and RM588,000 onwards respectively.

Prior to that, the firm had launched the updated combustion (ICE)-powered Grecale model back in July 2024 priced from RM634,889 onwards. The firm also launched the ICE-powered second-gen GranTurismo range in March 2024 priced from RM738,800 onwards.

Parent firm Naza Auto says the decision to conclude its Maserati business also stems from its desire to grow both its Suzuki Cars Malaysia (Naza Eastern Motors) and NZ Wheels business units.

From the same statement, parent firm Naza Auto notes the decision to conclude relations with Maserati stems from its desire to intensify focus and growth in Suzuki Cars Malaysia (Naza Eastern Motors) and NZ Wheels Mercedes-Benz dealership chain.

This also aligns with the ‘Strategic Realignment’ plans announced by Naza Auto back in April this year where focus on both its Suzuki and NZ Wheels business units were again mentioned.

Efforts for both are evident recently too like the recent launch of the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid compact crossover SUV and the opening of the revamped Mercedes-Benz NZ Wheels Bangsar showroom – now renamed as Stars@Mercedes-Benz Bangsar.
