Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Confirmed, Will Headline Proton Tech Showcase 2025
Our recent sighting of the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV. The national automaker is set to showcase its powertrain as part of its Proton Tech Showcase 2025 this week.

National automaker Proton is set to expand the e.MAS 7 model range with a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant. This was confirmed recently by Salawati Yusoff, Chief Branding Officer of PRO-NET – the division overseeing the Proton e.MAS sub-brand.
“We will showcase the PHEV powertrain tech for the e.MAS 7 at our upcoming Proton Tech Showcase 2025 event that’s happening this month,” said the exec in a recent episode of the Tekan Habis podcast that aired this week (you watch it in the embedded video below).
Salawati skirted away from revealing too much, but this is essentially official confirmation about the automaker's plans to develop and introduce said PHEV offshoot of the popular and best-selling all-electric C-SUV offering from Proton’s EV sub-brand.
Prior to which, camouflaged prototypes of the e.MAS 7 PHEV have been sighted recently being trialed on local roads – a typical sign that it will arrive soon enough. Though not mentioned, we’re also willing to bet the e.MAS 7 PHEV will be localised at Tanjong Malim too.
Given this recent sighting, it's safe to expect this PHEV offshoot of Proton's best-selling EV C-SUV to launch sometime next year.

The e.MAS 7 PHEV is speculated to be based on an existing Geely-badged twin – the Galaxy Starship 7 PHEV. Both the all-electric Galaxy E5 (e.MAS 7) and said PHEV offshoot underpin a i Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) platform base.
Underneath, expect the e.MAS 7 PHEV to mirror its Geely twin mentioned and adopt the latter Chinese partner’s NordThor EM-I petrol-electric PHEV powertrain package.

Naturally, the upcoming e.MAS 7 PHEV variant already has a Geely-badged 'twin' - the Galaxy Starship 7.

Said setup brings together a 1.5-litre 4-cyl naturally aspirated petrol mill rated at 111 PS and 136 Nm, which works in tandem with a unique 11-in-1 e-motor plus a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) outputting 238 PS and 262 Nm. Combined, there should be 330 PS available on tap.
Continuing on the electrified half of the powertrain, expect the e.MAS 7PHEV to adopt a smaller 19.09 kWh iteration of Geely’s Aegis ‘Short Blade’ LFP-type battery pack too. This ought to yield up to 130 KM of electric-only range, along with a claimed combined petrol-electric range of up to 1,420 KM (both on CLTC standards, mind you).
We’ll certainly get a clearer picture once we size up the tech as it is amongst the headlines from PRO-NET at the Proton Tech Showcase 2025. Besides a myriad of NEV tech, the mini expo of sorts is also set to cast a spotlight on various other technologies from Proton.
Highlights of the latter also include a dedicated showcase on the new generation ‘i-GT’ 4-cyl engine that powers the face-lifted X50 crossover and recently launched fourth-gen Saga. Said mill is also widely touted to power an upcoming revised version of the S70 sedan – camouflaged prototypes of which was also recently sighted on local roads.
Set to be opened to the public, the Proton Tech Showcase 2025 takes place later this week at the Proton Centre of Excellence (COE), Shah Alam from Friday, Dec 5, to Sunday, Dec 7. We’ll have more details for which soon.
