MyDigital ID Becomes Mandatory Login For MyNIISe From Jan 15

MyNIISe-app-1-850x445.jpg Starting Jan 15, Malaysians will need to use MyDigital ID as the only login method to access the MyNIISe immigration app, as part of the Home Ministry’s push to streamline and secure digital government services.

In a statement released on Jan 6, the ministry said the change applies only to Malaysians. Foreign travellers can continue logging into MyNIISe the same way they do now, with no changes to the process.

"The move is part of the broader National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) initiative, which aims to make identity verification more accurate and secure by linking directly to the National Registration Department’s database," it said in a statement.

Importantly, the ministry stressed that personal data will not be stored, addressing common concerns around privacy. The idea is simple. One secure login, fewer passwords to remember, and a smoother experience overall.

With this in mind, Malaysians aged 18 and above are encouraged to download and register for MyDigital ID ahead of time. The app is already available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery, and registration is required before accessing MyNIISe once the new system kicks in.

MyNIISe itself is still relatively new. It was first rolled out in Sept last year at Johor’s Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex, and will gradually be expanded to KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, as well as airports in Penang, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.

As of Dec 30, the app has been downloaded nearly 600,000 times, with over 287,000 registered users.

"Integrating MyDigital ID into MyNIISe reflects the Madani Government’s broader commitment to modernising public services

"The goal is to make immigration processes safer, faster, and more user-friendly, while building public confidence in how digital services are rolled out and managed," the ministry concluded.
