Pos Malaysia has announced that JPJ will stop issuing physical road tax for private vehicles beginning Feb 1, 2026.

Pos Malaysia has announced that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will stop issuing physical road tax slips for Malaysian-owned private vehicles, starting from Feb 1, 2026, onwards.

Announced via their official social media page, the company said those who need physical road tax slips can still get them when they renew their vehicle road tax and insurance at any Pos Malaysia outlet before the stipulated deadline, subject to stock availability.

That said, vehicle owners who still require a physical road tax after the deadline can still get them directly from any JPJ offices.

This move is said to be part of the government’s efforts to further digitalise transport-related services in Malaysia, which also include the introduction of both the digital road tax and digital driving licence—both of which can be renewed and accessed via the MyJPJ mobile app.

However, just like the physical road tax, motorists in Malaysia are still able to request a physical driving licence without having to justify the need for one at a fee of RM20. The physical driving licence card was previously reserved for those who are travelling or driving overseas, where they are required to present documents like flight tickets to qualify—a step that has now been removed entirely.
