My50 Pass: Commuters Save RM100 Monthly

More than 50% of Klang Valley public transport users now use the digital My50 pass, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said, reflecting a shift toward Touch‘n Go eWallet over traditional counters.
Speaking at the launch of the My50 Savings Tracker and the digitalisation of Rapid Kota and Rapid Kembara passes at Ampang Park LRT, Loke noted the government subsidy makes commuting more affordable. Commuters pay RM50/month, while the government adds RM100, bringing the true cost to RM150, or RM1,200 annually per user.
“Over 200,000 commuters use the My50 pass monthly, and more than half are going digital. This reduces queues and eases congestion,” Loke said.
The Touch‘n Go eWallet allows commuters to renew anytime with a simple tap. As of Jan 25, 103,280 users had renewed digitally, surpassing 86,094 using counters, signaling a clear trend.

The My50 Savings Tracker records journeys and alerts users if they haven’t reached the RM50 break-even, encouraging more trips and showing the true value of the subsidy. “Users pay only RM50, but the actual cost is RM150. Last year, the government spent nearly RM300 million to cover this,” Loke added.
Looking ahead, digital options will expand to daily and tourist passes, making it easier for commuters and visitors to pay without queuing. With LRT3 opening soon, the push aims to make public transport the preferred commuting choice.
Prasarana Chief Digital Officer Eamon Chee said the new features track spending and highlight savings, helping commuters see how public transport reduces personal costs. The collaboration with Touch‘n Go Digital marks a key step in modernising Malaysia’s transport system—making it more convenient, transparent, and cost-effective.
