Leapmotor C10 And B10 Are Now Made In Malaysia - Here's What's Different

Leapmotor's Malaysian line-up is now fully locally assembled, with the B10 joining the C10 on Stellantis' production line in Gurun, Kedah.

While the C10 had already made the switch to local assembly earlier this year, the arrival of the CKD B10 means both of Leapmotor's electric SUVs sold here are now rolling out of the Gurun plant.

But this isn't simply a case of swapping CBU for CKD. There are also some changes to the Malaysian line-up, including a slimmer B10 range, new C10 colour choices and even a more conventional way of unlocking both cars.

TL;DR
What You Need To Know
  • The Leapmotor C10 and B10 are now both locally assembled at Stellantis' Gurun plant in Kedah.
  • The B10 is now offered solely in Design guise at RM118,800, with the previous Life variant dropped.
  • The latest official pricing lists the C10 at RM125,000.
  • The C10 gains Violet and Lightning White exterior colour options.
  • Both models can now be ordered with an optional physical remote key fob, including by existing owners.

Leapmotor's Malaysian Line-Up Is Now Fully CKD

The headline development is the start of local assembly for the Leapmotor B10, completing Stellantis Malaysia's plan to localise Leapmotor production at its Gurun manufacturing hub.

The C10 was actually the first Leapmotor model to enter local production there, with Stellantis officially commencing its assembly in June. The B10 has now followed, meaning Leapmotor's current two-model Malaysian line-up is entirely locally assembled.

According to Stellantis Malaysia, over RM25 million (€5.33 million) was invested into developing local production capabilities as well as upgrading the production line and infrastructure at Gurun.

The B10 Is Now CKD, But The Cheaper Life Variant Is Gone

The biggest product change concerns the smaller Leapmotor B10.

When the B10 first arrived in Malaysia in fully imported form, buyers had a choice of two variants: the entry-level Life at RM107,800 and the better-equipped Design at RM118,800.

That changes with local assembly.

B10 was originally launched in 2 variants: Life and Design. B10 is now Design-only at RM118,800.

The CKD B10 is now available solely in Design specification, priced at RM118,800. In other words, the Design itself hasn't become cheaper with the switch to local production, while the lower-priced Life has disappeared from the range.

Specifications for the B10 Design are otherwise largely unchanged. It uses a rear-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp and 240 Nm, paired with a 67.1 kWh battery offering up to 434 km of WLTP-rated range.

DC fast charging peaks at 168 kW, with Leapmotor quoting around 20 minutes to take the battery from 30% to 80%.

The C10 Gets New Colours, While Its Core Formula Stays Familiar

For the larger C10, local assembly itself isn't the new story. Production at Gurun had already started earlier in 2026, and the CKD model had been detailed before this latest announcement.

Instead, Stellantis is highlighting an updated colour selection.

The locally assembled C10 can now be had in Violet and Lightning White, alongside Canopy Grey and Glazed Green. Glazed Green is paired with a Camel Brown interior, while the remaining exterior colours get a black cabin.

Underneath, the familiar powertrain remains. The C10 combines a 69.9 kWh battery with a rear electric motor producing 218 hp and 320 Nm, while claimed driving range stands at up to 424 km on the WLTP cycle.

The latest official Stellantis announcement lists the C10 at RM125,000.

Both Models Can Now Get A Physical Key Fob

Here's a smaller change that could make a surprisingly big difference to day-to-day ownership.

Leapmotor is introducing an optional physical remote key fob for both the C10 and B10.

The accessory isn't limited to buyers of new CKD cars either. Stellantis says it will also be available to existing C10 and B10 owners nationwide.

That gives owners another option alongside Leapmotor's existing phone and key-card based vehicle access system, and should appeal to anyone who simply prefers having a conventional car key in their pocket.

GOOD TO KNOW
Existing Owners Aren't Left Out
The optional Leapmotor Remote Key Fob will be available not only for newly registered C10 and B10 units, but for existing owners nationwide as well.

So, What's Actually Different?

The significance of this announcement isn't that the Leapmotor C10 has suddenly become Malaysian-made. That happened earlier.

What's new is that the B10 has now joined it, completing the local assembly of Leapmotor's current Malaysian line-up and giving Stellantis another EV on its Gurun production line.

For buyers, the changes are relatively straightforward. The C10 gains more colour choices, while the B10 loses its cheaper Life variant and continues solely as the RM118,800 Design. Both cars also gain access to an optional physical key fob.

The bigger story may therefore be happening behind the cars themselves. With EUR5.3 million committed to localised Leapmotor production and infrastructure at Gurun, Stellantis is steadily turning its Kedah plant into a more important part of its EV operations in Malaysia.

Whether local assembly eventually brings more Leapmotor models, greater localisation or further changes to pricing remains to be seen. For now, though, Leapmotor can officially say its entire Malaysian range is made in Malaysia.
