Highly anticipated and sought-after, XPENG’s latest 2025 release, the new XPENG G6, upgraded and launched in Malaysia.

A D-segment (mid-size crossover SUV) Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), it underpins XPENG’s Smart Electric Platform Architecture (SEPA 2.0).

Fully imported (CBU – China), available via Bermaz XPeng Sdn Bhd (Bermaz Auto Berhad – BAuto) are three variants (RWD Long Range Pro – RM179,708, AWD Performance – RM190,708, AWD Black Edition – RM194,708).

Prices (OTR, w/o insurance) include a vehicle warranty (five years/120,000 km), an EV battery warranty (eight years/160,000 km) and a service-maintenance package (free: five years/100,000 km).

The new G6 gets a symmetrically angular and tiered dashboard (‘Super Star-Ring’ Interior Design), linked to a high-rise-floating centre console (armrest, storage, dual wireless charger, gear lever-omitted).

Soft-/hard-touched (dash, steering wheel, centre console, doors), it sees two (dual-tone – Dark Grey-Black, Light Grey-Black) colour schemes with contrast trims (bezels: Aluminium – centre-dash panel: Wood veneer).

Equipped are the driver/central displays (floating: instrument cluster, infotainment), air-conditioning vents (rectangular, slim), an ambient light system (256-colour, rhythmic) and digital rear-view mirror (live feed camera).

Inclusively, the layout is ergonomic (functional), with accessibilities purposefully arranged (driver-oriented, user-friendly).

Part of XPENG’s ‘Smart Cockpit’, installed is a 10.25-inch HD TFT-LCD (Thin-Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) fully digital driver display (instrument cluster).

The setup runs XPENG’s smart in-car operating system (XMART OS 5.0 – Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chip).

Features are vehicle telematics, media, Bluetooth, navigation, Intelligent Voice Assistant (‘Hey XPENG’, avatar, Smart Vehicle Control – XPENG mobile app) and customisable interface (drive mode dependent).

Comfortable, the interior sees upholstery (Nappa leather) in two colour schemes (single-tone – Dark Grey, Light Grey).

The front gets electronic-powered (driver/passenger: multi-way-adjust, multi-way-lumbar, ventilation, massage, heating, welcome mode, memory) bolstered seats.

The rear gets a manual-operated (multi-way-backrest-recline-adjust, 60:40 split-flat-fold, heating) bolstered bench (three-seater).

Sleek and athletic, its ‘Starship’ inspired exterior parades XPENG’s techno-fluid aesthetic, emphasised by seamlessly flowing and clean-cut surfaces.

The ‘Robot Face’ front-end sees a moulded bonnet (side raised, XPENG emblem), rounded quarter panels (flared fenders) and an inward-warped bumper (‘Starlight Wing’ full width lightbar, grille-omitted, lower vented, corner inserts).

Accentuations, body trims (Black: bumper lip, corner inserts, vent, side mirror arms, window surrounds, side sills), XPENG emblem (Matte Grey: RWD Long Range Pro, AWD Performance – Matte Black: AWD Black Edition) and flush door handles (body-colour: electric).

Smooth and athletic, it continues the design language, emphasised by seamlessly jointed and horizontally clean-cut contours.

The rear-end sees a coupe-esque roofline (roof-edge spoiler), rounded quarter panels (flared fenders), an upright tapered tailgate (ducktail spoiler, XPENG/G6 emblems) and a covered bumper (diffuser: exhaust-omitted).

Features are ‘Starlight Wing’ lightbar Daytime Running Lights (DRL – LED), automatic-sensing (On/Off, high-/low-beam, cornering), Intelligent High Beam (IHB), welcome/leaving lights, height adjustment (manual) and sequential turn signals (LED).

Sleek and darkened, the ‘Galaxy Lightsaber’ tail lamps are slime and slit-like with pointed wraparound edges. Installed are full LED units.

Features are automatic-sensing (On/Off), welcome/leaving lights and sequential turn signals (LED). Included is a high-mounted stop light (LED: roof-edge spoiler integrated).

The side mirrors (dual-toned – Black-body-colour) are electronic-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with blind spot indicators (Blind Spot Detection – BSD), turn-signals, heating and memory.

The new G6 (RWD Long Range Pro, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) underpins an all-electric e-powertrain (BEV) with variant-specific setups.

Nestled (RWD Long Range Pro) is a single-electric motor (rear-mounted: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (218 kW/296 PS, 440 Nm).

Embedded (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) is a dual-electric motor (front-rear-mounted: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor – PMSM) setup (front: 140 kW/190 PS, 220 Nm – rear: 218 kW/296 PS, 440 Nm – front-rear: 358 kW/487 PS, 660 Nm).

Merged to the setups is a single-speed automatic transmission (column gear selector: right stalk shifter).

Power is transmitted to the rear (RWD Long Range Pro) and all four (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition) wheels, via Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) systems.

0 to 100 km/h acceleration is done in 6.7 secs (RWD Long Range Pro) and 4.13 secs (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition). 

Top speed is electronically capped at 202 km/h (RWD Long Range Pro, AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition).

Underpinned is XPENG’s Smart Electric Platform Architecture (SEPA 2.0), featuring a Cell-Integrated-Body (CIB) build (body-integrated battery pack) with a high-voltage Silicon Carbide (SiC) platform (800 V).

Incorporated is a Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery (80.8 kWh), enabling a total driving range (WLTP) of 525 km (RWD Long Range Pro) and 510 km (AWD Performance, AWD Black Edition).

AC charging (Type 2: 11 kW) takes 9.2 hours for a 5% to 100% State of Charge (SoC). DC charging (CCS2: 451 kW) takes 12 mins for a 10% to 80% SoC.

Included is a brake energy recuperation (regenerative braking – four levels: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, X PEDAL) system and a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L – 3.3 kW) function for powering of external appliances.

Propping-up the e-chassis is a suspension setup of double wishbones independent suspension (front) and a multi-link independent suspension (rear) with passive dampers.

Overall, it is spacious with firm handling and is suitable as a daily driver. Inside and out, performance- and comfort-wise, the ride quality is satisfactory.

Good sound insulation, covering all the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) aspects. The cabin is serene, with the tyre, road and wind noises mostly hindered. 

Part of the aero-acoustic measures taken is the installation of acoustic glasses (front: side windows, windscreen).

The new XPENG G6 is built with a futuristic and sophisticatedly sporty appeal, offering style, performance, space and practicality.
