Mercedes-Benz’s latest addition to its Maybach and EQ portfolios, the all-new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, officially launched in Malaysia.

The uber-luxury bespoke made-to-order SUV (Z296-gen) is the first EQ-badged Maybach (Battery Electric Vehicle - BEV), and underpinned is Mercedes’ Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA2) platform.

Fully-imported (CBU - U.S.), available via Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) is one variant (Maybach EQS 680 4MATIC SUV - MYR 1,088,888, Night Series package - MYR 1.3 M).

Price (OTR, w/o insurance, 10% SST) includes a standard vehicle warranty (four years/unlimited-mileage) and a drive battery warranty (10 years/250,000 KM).

Exterior colours (Maybach dual-tone with filigree pinstripe - High-Tech Silver/Obsidian Black, High-Tech Silver/Nautical Blue, Obsidian Black/Selenite Grey, Obsidian Black/Kalahari Gold, Velvet Brown/Onyx Black).

The all-new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has a futuristically-minimalistic dashboard design, linked to a floating front-to-rear (Maybach First Class Rear Compartment package) centre console (retractable-cover stowage, rear floor Maybach light projector, wireless chargers, rear tablet shelf, refrigerated compartment, glass holders).

Roundly-slim and -sleek, the tail lamps are in a full-width (light bar) design with wrapped-around edges, featuring 3D two-part helix light graphics. Installed are full LED units.

The side mirrors (dual-tone - Chrome-High-Gloss-Black/Dark Chrome-High-Gloss-Black - Night Series) are electronic-powered (auto-fold, adjust) with sequential turn signals (LED), blind-spot indicators (Active Blind Spot Assist - ABSA), automatic-dimming (Mirror Package) and ground light projection (Maybach logo).

The all-new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV features the following sets of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Grouped under Driving Assistance Plus Package are DISTRONIC Plus Brake Assist System (BAS) and PRE-SAFE Brake, Extended automatic Restart in traffic jams, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, Evasive Manoeuvre Support and Rear sensors for Lane Departure Assistant.

The all-new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV harbours an all-electric powertrain (BEV).

Fused in its electric drivetrain (eATS) is a dual-motor setup (front-rear-mounted - Permanently-Excited Synchronous Motors - PSM), generating a total system of 484 KW (658 HP) and 955 NM.

Churning the system is a single-speed fixed-ratio automatic transmission.

The eATS transmits power to all four wheels (4WD), Mercedes’ fully-variable 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, featuring a Torque Shift function and rear-axle steering.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is done in 4.4 seconds, and the top speed is 210 KM/H.

Juicing-up the e-motors is a Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery pack (396 V, 12 cell modules, 118 KWH - boot-floor-mounted), enabling 560 KM to 608 KM of driving range (WLTP).

Charging via AC (Type 2 - 22 KW), takes 6.25 hours for a 0% to 100% State of Charge (SoC). Charging via DC (CCS2 - 200 KW) takes 31 minutes for a 10% to 80% SoC.

Notably, its ground clearance is 25 MM raisable at speeds of up to 80 KM/H, while in MAYBACH and Sport modes, it is automatically lowered by 10 MM and 15 MM, respectively.
