Toyota Avanza

The Toyota Avanza is not an unfamiliar name to Malaysians. With the latest second generation release, it comes in three variants; the 1.5E, 1.5S and 1.5S+. Prices range from RM77,963 to RM84,849. The 2019 Avanza continues to impress with its vibrant aura and performance. 

The dashboard has gotten a fresh update which exudes a contemporary look with its black and chrome finish. 

All the variants offer analogue instrument clusters as standard.

All the variants come with 7 seats and are finished with fabric. The second and third row seats are foldable to ensure more space and ease of access.

The Avanza offers spacious space for the driver as well as the passengers, similar to all Honda cars. Legroom and headroom is better compared to any of its peers.

The vehicle has a glove compartment that can accommodate any necessities. Unfortunately, there is no storage space in the centre console. 

There are eleven cup holders altogether dispersed throughout the interior of the vehicle. 

The Avanza has a total of two USB charging ports being located in the center console and one 12-volt power socket located in the center console.

The Avanza is equipped with 128 litres of boot space with all the seats up, but it can accommodate an astounding 1,424 litres of boot space with the second and third row seats folded. 

The measurements are 4,190 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width and 1,696 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,655 mm for all the variants.

The newest generation of the Toyota Avanza exudes a sleek feel and look with a facelift that includes mild changes such as the grille which extends to the end and gives the headlamps a unique two-tire look. 

The rear view of the Avanza compliments the front view of the vehicle as it keeps a sporty feel with the rear bumper and chrome rear light reflector. 

The three variants are all fitted with Bi-LED headlamps. 

All of the variants are equipped with bulb tail lamps, similar to the pre-facelifted design. 

All variants are fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels, while the 1.5S and 1.5S+ variants get a two-toned finish. 

To name a few, the 1.5S+ has the following active safety features; Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). 

The passive safety features include two airbags located at the front passenger and driver seat, seat-belts with pretensioner and force limiter as well as rear ISOFIX child seats anchor points. 

The 1.5S+ variant features a 6.75 inch touch screen display which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also features wi-fi and voice recognition which is channelled through six speakers as standard. 

The 1.5S+ variant features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) petrol engine with Dual VVT-i mill which generates 103 hp at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm at 4,200 rpm.   

Regardless of the variant, the 4-speed automatic comes as standard.

The fuel consumption averages around 7.7 l/100km as per Toyota claims.
