Volkswagen Beetle

First launched in 2012, Volkswagen Beetle has entered the market and later facelifted to better upgrades after a couple of years. Today, the Beetle line-up now consists of two variants which are Design and Sport. Both models are powered by DSG 7-speed transmission and ready to put everything into gear.

In 2018, the price for a single VW Beetle 1.2 TSI Sport is RM152, 390 and RM 4,209 for its insurance cost. Both models pay an amount of roadtax of RM 55.

VW Beetle has black coloured dashboard and has two front reading lights with indirect dashboard lighting. The VW Beetle dashboard combines well with the Vienna leather seats where the whole area looks elegant with black colour.

Looking at the instrument cluster, well equipped with a 6.5-inch touchscreen to navigate info and media, Then, it has cruise control settings with fuel consumption stats and backlit analogue.

As for the driver seat it is Manual Adjustable and holds 50:50 split folding. The VW Beetle has three doors and four seats. All seats are made of Vienna leather seat upholstery, so it is rather comfortable and has good material.

VW Beetle shares its similarities with two-door Golf where both have the same amount of storage and deep door bins. Also available for storage pockets on the backrest of front seats to insert items.

This car is complete with 2 cup holders located at the front seat.

Has a 12-volt socket in the centre console, one at front only.

The VW Beetle is built in body coloured dash pad, with leather handbrake lever and gearshift. Well-equipped with centre console in Platinum Grey and chrome trim for rotary light switch and Vienna leather seat upholstery.

Boot space of a VW Beetle holds a capacity of 310 litres, and when we flip the rear seats 910 litres of space has been removed. However, the stage created by the folded seats make the cargo area less functional. 

VW Beetle dimensions are 4,278 mm L x 1808 mm W x 17486 mm H. Wheelbase is 2537mm.

The Volkswagen Beetle has an iconic look for its bug-shaped and round-eyed headlamps. One could notice the front bumper which has been revamp and combined with a touch of chrome highlights really entices the whole front view of a Beetle.

VW Beetle is using Bi-Xenon Projector with LED Daytime Running Light which consumes less energy and longer life.

The LED taillights at the back match the Beetle bumper style.

Manually foldable and manually adjustable side mirrors.

Using Electromechanical speed-sensitive power steering. Both front and rear brakes use ventilated and solid discs.

Tyres is 215/60 R16.

Available for active safety features such as Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA), Anti-skid Regulator (ASR), Brake pad wear indicator, Central locking system with Safe Lock, Child seat anchor for child seat system ISOFIX.

Next, also completed with Driver and front passenger airbags with front passenger airbag deactivation, combined side and thorax airbags for front passengers (four airbags in total).

VW Beetle comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill start assist, Park Distance Control (front and rear), Safety-optimised front headrests, Space and weight saving spare wheel, has Tool kit and jack, Warning signal and warning light for unfastened front seatbelts, Warning triangle, and 3-point seat belts with seat belt tensioners.

Other than having multi-function leather steering wheel with control for MFD, radio and telephone, VW Beetle also offers, front centre armrest, illuminated sun visors with vanity mirror, and an advanced six-inch touchscreen completed with navigation system.

VW Beetle Car-Net App-Connect has added a system such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink which allow people to show smartphone’s compatibility on the touchscreen through USB connection.

Well-equipped with Radio, CD, MP3 Composition Media 6.5-inch touchscreen display with USB, AUX-IN, SD Card, iPod/iPhone interface and Bluetooth with 8 speakers in total. Very good amplifier system, especially when we tune in light and easy songs.

The engine retains at 1.2-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant and the 7-speed DSG transmission.

When the 1,197 cc power source generates 103 hp at 5,000 rpm and 175 Nm of torque from 1,550 to 4,100 rpm, the engine accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and the top speed is 180 km/h. The combined fuel consumption is 5.5 l/100 km.

On the road, the 1.2 TSI feels strongest especially during the mid-range where it can ride on its strong wave of torque to get the Beetle up to speed. It has minor issues from slight turbo lag at slow crawling speeds but once the turbocharger gathers enough momentum, VW Beetle driving performance is at his A-game. Also, able to switch to conventional mode

Driving a VW Beetle is convenient as it has Climatronic air conditioning system with 2-zone temperature control, Front sports seats with height adjustment and lumbar support. Added to that, it also offers paddle shifters, and has cruise control driving aspects.

For a car that has 3 doors and four seats, the ride is enjoyable and single people would enjoy driving a Beetle where it is well equipped from the design and multi-functional features that offers high advanced technology with excellent cast of safety standards included.

VW Beetle 1.2 TSI has a great exhaust note and is superior especially on the street where less noise is produced giving a relaxing ride. 

Love Bug or Beetle is famous among women, single individuals or small families as it is a small and compact car to drive. Overall, the features and specifications are high in advanced technology although boot space is small and less convenient to put large items or luggage.
