BMW 4 Series And i4 Gran Coupe Updated – Mild Design Tweaks Plus New i4 xDrive40 Variant

BMW has given both its 4 Series and i4 Gran Coupe models a light refresh with mild styling tweaks inside and out, revised kit list, and a new variant for the i4.
BMW has given both its 4 Series and i4 Gran Coupe duo a refresh for the 2024 model year. Revealed earlier this week, both models feature mild styling tweaks inside and out, revised kit list and, for the all-electric i4 specifically, a new xDrive40 variant added.
Common changes in both sees a revised new front grille designs, new headlights with redesigned LED DRLs, two new metallic paintjob choices added (Cape York and Fire Red), as well as new 19- and 20-inch wheel designs.
Additionally, both the LED head- and taillights can be specced with BMW’s trick adaptive Laserlights tech too. That aside, BMW has also updated the exterior contrast trim choices to include black chrome-finished option.

New here are the front grille, headlights, and wheels. Revised too are the exterior contrast trim finish options, the as well as the taillights.
On board, the cabins in both has been revised lightly with a new two-spoke standard steering wheel next to an optional new M leather-wrapped choice with a flat-bottom design. The central air-cond vents are redesigned and illuminated now too.
Notably, physical control surfaces in the dash have been reduced with physical buttons swapped out for touch-sensitive interfaces. That aside, the standard sport seats now come lined in perforated Sensatec, whilst the M Sport package option gets M Performtex upholstery option.
As for tech, both the refreshed 4 Series and i4 Gran Coupe now boasts an upgraded infotainment running on the BMW Operating System 8.5 suite. It also gets a host of connectivity upgrades, namely a new eSIM slot, 5G connection support, and integrated digital payment option.
Also revised across all variants and trims are the active driver assist (ADAS) features that comes as standard fitment now – Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Parking Assistant, and Reversing Assist Camera.

Changes on board are equally mild, but does see a redesigned centre air-cond vent that's now partially illuminated, new touch-sensitive control interfaces, connectivity upgrades, as well as new upholstery and trim material options.
Under the hood, the 4 Series Gran Coupe sees a selection of 4-cyl and in-line 6-cyl petrol and diesel engine options available, all primed with 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) tech. All are paired with a new 8-speed Steptronic automatic box, and the choice between rear- (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) setups too.
As for the i4 Gran Coupe, the existing eDrive35, eDrive40, and M50 xDrive e-powertrain choices continue to be available, but they’re now joined by a new xDrive40 variant. As its name aptly suggest, this new variant brings a third dual-motor AWD option into the mix, which delivers 401 HP and 600 NM, thus allowing 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 5.1 secs.
Like the eDrive40 variant, the new xDrive40 shares the same 83.9 kWh battery pack. With a full charge, this new dual-motor AWD option promises between 444 KM and 548 KM of range too.
Both the revised BMW 4 Series and i4 Gran Coupe will be produced at the BMW Group Plant in Munich, and the firm is poised to start market roll-outs of both models as early as July this year.
