2023 BYD Dolphin Launched In China - Priced From RM74,000
The 2023 BYD Dolphin, also known as the Atto 2 is now launched in China setting its focus on young EV enthusiasts at the price of CNY116,800 to 136,800 (RM74,000 to RM87,000).
This compact EV would run on the widely used BYD e-platform 3.0 featuring the signature 44.9kWh LFP Blade Battery which is proven to be one of the better battery offerings available in the current market.
The BYD Dolphin which was developed by chief designer Wolfgang Egger would be the first offering from the brand under the “Marine Aesthetics” design language and is available in seven colour options namely Pupu Pink, Beibei Grey, Cheese Yellow, Surfing Blue, Altantis Grey, Taro Purple and Black.
As of November 2022, a total of 26,029 BYD Dolphin has been sold marking an impressive year-on-year bump of 195.8% reported by BYD.
The compact which features a flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, 5-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 12.8-inch floating central control screen will be have the 2023 upgrades consisting of real-time tire pressure monitoring, front seat heating, a 4-way electronically adjustable passenger seat, a 6-way electronically adjustable driver seat, a rear centre armrest with cup holder, a front parking radar, electric exterior mirrors and a seatbelt warning light.
Furthermore, in 2023, the Dolphin will get a new comfort drive mode on top of the existing energy saving, snow and sports modes. The Dolphin dimension wise will be 4070mm in length, 1770mm wide, 1570mm tall with a wheelbase of 2700mm.
In terms of performance, the 2023 BYD Dolphin would feature a front driven magnet synchronous motor with two power options either the 94HP/180 Nm or 174HP/290 Nm, claimed to deliver a driving range of 420 km and 401 km respectively. The lesser power option model would give you a 0-100km/h time of 10.9-second while the higher reaches 100 in a respectable 7.5-second. Both models will support 60kW fast charging.
