Bugatti’s Blend Of Luxury And Couture, The One-Off ‘Chiron Habillé Par Hermès’
Bugatti has created another phenomenal masterpiece that represents the artisan craftsmanship of the French marque and this time hailing from the Atelier in Molsheim, is the one of a kind ‘Chiron habillé par Hermès’.
This personal commission was created for a client in the USA, entrepreneur and real estate investor Manny Khoshbin, who wanted to revive Ettore Bugatti and Émile-Maurice Hermès’ rapport of defining luxury.
“I am a true Bugatti aficionado. I wanted to name my son ‘Ettore’ but my wife disagreed. When I saw the Chiron for the first time in 2015, I was one of the first customers in the world to reserve a build slot, yet one of the later to take delivery of one, but the reason for that was down to me”, said Khoshbin.
The evolution of this elegant and extraordinary Bugatti Chiron has been decked with the French luxury brand, Hermès, which sees an intricate and special application of colours, fabrics and finishes embellished throughout the hyper sports car.
Taking an overall gander, a unison colour theme with the distinguishable leather shade of ‘Craie’, made famous by Hermès can be seen cloaking the ‘Chiron habillé par Hermès’.
The off-white, chalk-like hue that drapes the silhouette has completed the hyper sports car in one exterior colour, which distinguishes it from most of the Bugatti Chiron commissions that features two-toned hues for contrast.
Adding to the whole facade, the rear bumper, all the mesh covers, all the trim parts and all four of the Bugatti ‘Classique’ alloy wheels have also been finished in ‘Craie’.
Complementing it further, Bugatti’s unique design traits can also be seen adorning the exterior. On the front, it features their iconic horseshoe grille that has been customized with the Parisian brand’s signature ‘H’ monogram.
Meanwhile, at the back, Hermès’ classic ‘Courbettes’ patterns, graces the underside of the rear wing. This particular design features sketches of rearing horses and was significantly chosen to symbolize the Chiron’s massive power output of 1,500 PS.
Other than that, on the top-side of the hyper sports car, is the optional ‘Sky View’ glass roof that adds on two fixed glass panels above the driver and passenger seats. Also, splashing a little colour is the ‘Italian Red’ brake callipers and aluminium-finished door sills.
Indulging the interior, as per the name, all the materials fitted inside the Chiron comes from Hermès. It features a cabin in ‘Craie’ shaded leather seats, middle console, inner signature line, roof panel, rear panel and door clasps.
Moreover, to harmonise the entire ambience, the Bugatti made leather upholstery called the ‘Ecru’ that encompasses the centre console, dashboard and other parts of the interior have been paired with floor carpets finished in ‘Beige’.
Embodying the Hermès couture further, the use of the brand’s original material, in this case, the ‘Courbettes’ design can be seen reflected on the middle console plate, the centre console tray and door cards.
Khoshbin concluded, “The order of this special Chiron involved two visits to Hermès in Paris to discuss design, the realization of the interior and see progress being made. Between myself, the team at Hermès and designers at Bugatti, we exchanged hundreds of emails. I took my time to draft the car and that was very much a conscious decision, this is a car that I will one day hand down to my son, it will live for generations”.
Evidently, this is not the first time Bugatti and Hermès have worked together, before the First World War, Ettore Bugatti used to commission saddles and other leather tacks from Émile-Maurice Hermès and the company’s leather later appeared in racing cars by Bugatti in the 1920s.
