Bugatti Chiron L’Ultime Final Unit Special Marks Hypercar’s End
The Bugatti Chiron hypercar marks the end with its latest L'Ultime final-unit special pictured.
Since it first debuted in 2016, the Bugatti Chiron hypercar has set multiple extraordinary feats. Well, when you succeed the manic Veyron, perhaps this was expected. Nevertheless, all good things must come to an end, bringing us to the Bugatti Chiron L’Ultime special pictured.
This is the 500th and final unit of the Chiron model hand-built by Bugatti at its Molsheim facility. Underneath, it’s essentially a Chiron Super Sport with a tailor-made touch courtesy of the B-marque’s Sur Mesure personalisation program.
The 500th and final Chiron unit underpins the Chiron Super Sport variant, and gets treated with special aesthetics to mark its milestone final unit status.
Special two-tone blue paintwork is offset with hand-written #500 and location names, plus hand-painted wheels in differing hues.
The special blends the original Chiron’s French Racing Blue and Atlantic Blue hues, albeit in a reversed sequence, and with a distinctive gradient in between. Both the front and rear wheels are individually painted to complement the bodywork’s shades.
Prominent here too are the #500 motifs above the side skirts, on the wheels, below the rear wing, and on the cover of the W16 powertrain. Topping things off is a bespoke Bugatti macaron emblem mounted on the horseshoe grille that’s also finished in blue.
On board, this special's cabin gets a similar #500 and L'Ultime motif treatment.
Present in the mirror caps are the colours of the French flag too. Additionally, the profile is embellished with hand-written names of locales significant to the Chiron’s development - Geneva, Chantilly, Circuit Paul Ricard, Ehra-Lessien test track, Château Saint Jean, Cape Canaveral, and, of course, Bugatti’s home in Molsheim.
On board, this final-unit special dons a combination of Deep Blue leather upholstery with Blue Carbon Matt inserts, as well as accents finished in French Racing Blue. Exclusive L’Ultime and #500 emblems are present in different places, as well as the “hand-cut, hand-stitched, and hand-woven” leather patches on the door panels.
Based on the Chiron Super Sport, the L'Ultime harnesses Bugatti's signature 8.0-litre W16 quad-turbo heart outputting 1,600 PS (1,578 HP) to enable 0-200 KM/H sprints in 5.8 seconds and 440 KM/H v-max.
Aesthetics aside, the Chiron L’Ultime sees no changes to its powertrain, thus said 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 mill continues to churn out 1,600 PS (1,578 HP). As a refresher, the Super Sport model this special underpins was capable of 0-200 KM/H sprints in 5.8 seconds before maxing out at a ‘limited’ v-max of 440 KM/H.
With its revelation, the mighty Chiron model’s lineage has finally come to an end, but Bugatti is set to reveal its successor very soon - sometime this month, in fact. It will still be a 16-cylindered behemoth of a powerplant, but will have a traditional ‘V’ cylinder layout and trades its turbos for natural aspiration with electrified hybrid assist.
No details on who takes delivery of this 500th and final unit special, but given Bugatti’s typical clientele, it most certainly will end up in the hands of a discerning Ultra High Net Worth Individual (UHNWI). Expect more details of the Chiron’s successor once its debuts later this month. KR
