Lionizing Its Historical Legacy, Porsche Presents The 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition
State-of-the-art build and first of its kind in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) presents the Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition.
Design elements swayed by the golden years, its historical exterior and interior stylings have been reinterpreted and combined with the latest technology from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.
Sime Darby Auto Performance’s chief executive officer Christopher Hunter remarked, “We’re bringing back our iconic looks from different eras and proving that Porsche stays true to its roots, even in the age of electrification. The 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition evokes the memories of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s and translates these elements into a modern-day sports car that excites Porsche customers through the lifestyle dimensions.”
Overall build of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition is based on the new 992 generation 911 Targa and is fitted with the latest technology for chassis, assistance systems and infotainment.
Under the hood, it harbours a high-tech 331 kW (450 PS) biturbo boxer engine that is married to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Said setup with Launch Control enables it to surge from 0 - 100 km/h in less than 3.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 304 km/h.
Exterior wise, the 911 Targa 4S features the ‘Spears’ motorsport graphics and can be cloaked in a range of Porsche exclusive shades.
By default, it comes in a Cherry Metallic hue that is exclusive to the 911 series in which it takes up the style of the 50s with a modern interpretation.
Alternatively, also available for the special model are two solid colours, a metallic colour and a special colour, i.e., Black and Guards Red, GT Silver Metallic and Crayon.
Moreover, Porsche also offers selected individual colours on request for clients that prefer a distinct exterior design.
As for the former, the striking design of the motorsport graphic can be seen on the front wings and the high-quality white livery resembles the shape of a spear.
Speaking of which, these ‘spears’ recall the early days of Porsche motorsports history at which the race cars were painted after collisions to hide any marks.
Eventually, the spears were portrayed as ‘warpaint’ and were one of the first design elements clients used to personalise their vehicles.
Panning to the side, other motorsport graphics with a historical value can also be seen on this special model which pays homage to the 911 Speedster Heritage Design package of 2019.
Further complementing the sporty outlook, the decals adorned can be supplemented by race numbers from 0 to 99 on request.
Sublime detailing embellishes the 911 Targa 4S, e.g., gold-coloured lettering at the rear and on the Targa bar, as well as the historic Porsche crest on the wheel hub cover and the bonnet.
Other than that, its aesthetics feature the Porsche Heritage badge on the luggage compartment grille and silver sports tailpipes.
Completing the overall layout, 911 Targa 4S rides on a set of 911 Carrera Exclusive Design rims that comes in black high-gloss or the optional platinum satin gloss hue.
It is offered in either 20-inch or 21-inch profiles and the wheels are paired with the classic looking black-painted brake callipers.
Transitioning inside, the words ‘911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition’ marks the brushed aluminium panels, along with the Heritage Design floor mats as a matching detail.
Exclusively designed for this edition, it features the Bordeaux red two-tone leather upholstery and Atacama beige OLEA club leather.
Additionally, clients also have the choice of a two-tone leather upholstery in Black and Atacama Beige.
Besides that, the Corduroy, a fabric already used in the Porsche 356 has made a comeback and this soft ribbed fabric is used on the centre panels of the seats and in the door panels.
The overall look of the interior is rounded off with perforated Alcantara in the aforesaid Atacama beige on the headlining and the A and B pillars.
Equipment wise, the modern instrument cluster features two high-resolution 7-inch displays, which comes with an analogue rev counter that has a classic pointer.
Interestingly, starting the engine changes the colour of the hands and digits from white to green, and the equally green scale lines are also derived from the Porsche 356.
To match it up, the clock from the standard Sport Chrono package on top of the instrument panel also has green digits.
Again, the detailing is outstanding with the historical Porsche crest reflected in the interior which can be seen on the headrests and steering wheel.
Likewise, it is featured together with the stamped ‘Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’ lettering on the cover of the stowage compartment.
Exemplifying the exceptional craftsmanship further, the individual limited-edition badge on the decorative panel above the glove compartment is applied by hand.
Comparably, the car key painted in the exterior colour and the key pouch made of two-tone leather, also enhanced with the historical Porsche crest, are further examples of the attention to detail.
On another note, along with the introduction of the 911 Targa 4S, Porsche also offers the Pure Heritage Design package for all current 911s models which includes selected interior elements.
Ranging from two-tone leather upholstery in black or OLEA club leather in Bordeaux red and Atacama beige, seat centre panels and door panels in Corduroy, and seatbelts in Atacama beige.
Also included is the instrument cluster in Heritage Design and the Heritage Design Sport Chrono clock, which is in conjunction with the optional Sport Chrono package option.
As well as the Porsche crest on the headrests, ‘Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’ logo on the cover of the stowage compartment, 911 badge in silver and door sills in aluminium with embossed 911 logos.
This top-of-the-range Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition in Malaysia has a price tag that starts from RM 1,677,409 with SST exemption.
Hunter concluded, “In addition to the arrival of the new 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, Porsche Centre Johor Bahru will be the first Classic Partner Centre in Malaysia and is scheduled for launch at the end of this year. This will further enhance the customer experience where Porschephiles can now refurbish and upkeep their classic Porsches at this new facility.”
