Honouring The Architectural Heritage In Bologna, The Lamborghini Sian Cruises Up The Porticoes
UNESCO has inaugurated the Porticoes of Bologna as a World Heritage Site, thus the super sports car from Sant’Agata paid homage to it with its Lamborghini Sián.
Traveling the streets of Bologna backdropping the Porticoes, the tribute signifies a combination of the brand and the landmark’s history.
Bologna’s Porticoes are an important cultural and architectural heritage, befitting Automobili Lamborghini’s symbol of automotive avant-garde.
Lamborghini Sián represents the house of the Raging Bull with its iconic V12 engine, alongside future design and technology found in its supercapacitor hybrid engine.
The Sián’s 785 hp naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 coupled with the 48-Volt e-motor’s 34 hp, it roars with a total hybrid output of 819 hp.
This mid-engine mounted hybrid setup has an electronically-controlled all-wheel-drive system that churns with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Its build is long, low and extreme, with a menacing, almost alien road presence that signals its status as a tarmac predator ready to pounce and devour.
Mused from past heroes like the Countach, the Sian’s design features Y-shaped headlights, along with the long Gandini-Line and distinctive hexagonal taillights that are distinctly Lamborghini.
As for the former, said landmark is the oldest of which date back to the 12th century, one of Bologna’s most characteristic and globally recognizable architectural symbols.
They include the oldest Portico of the Alemanni to the world’s longest Portico leading to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca atop the hill of Colle della Guardia.
Served to protect the pilgrims from the rain as they reached the Sanctuary, the Porticoes are made up of 666 arches and stretches up to 62 km long.
Interestingly, the Porticoes in Bologna are clearly distinguishable from each other, described in famous poems, songs and novels.
To sum up, the Porticoes in Bologna marks the 58th site worldwide awarded for cultural and social interest by UNESCO and parading the Lamborghini Sián is a perfect show of gratitude.
