Representing A Superb Repertoire, The Home Of Bentley Presents 6 Outstanding Builds
The Home of Bentley in California was once again the destination for more than 2,500 Bentley aficionados as the brand made a return with six debuts at Monterey Car Week 2021.
Bentley Americas’ president and chief executive officer Christophe Georges said, “Returning to Monterey for the first time after rejoicing in our centenary at Pebble Beach in 2019 has been a fantastic experience. After the challenges of the pandemic, we chose to celebrate our customers alongside our thoroughly modern and diverse range of new models. Monterey Car Week is always a highlight in our calendar and was particularly special this year as Bentley continues to deliver the strongest results in the company’s history.”
Spanning over four days, the exhibition featured a different line-up of Bentleys every day and was supported by a hand-crafted display detailing the company’s Beyond100 strategy.
Said line-up included all of Bentley Mulliner’s superb repertoires, i.e., Classic, Coachbuilt and Collections, plus a debut of their new hybrid range, the Flying Spur Hybrid and the Bentayga Hybrid.
Displayed at the centre were the biofuel-powered Continental GT3 Pikes Peak and Bentley’s eye-catching art car, the ‘Unifying Spur’ that highlights the brand’s new diversity and inclusion strategy.
Detailing further, the newly unveiled Flying Spur Mulliner being the pinnacle of the Flying Spur range, featured unique Mulliner details.
It struts on 22-inch Mulliner wheels with self-levelling centres, a unique ‘Double Diamond’ front grille and satin silver mirror caps, which give the Flying Spur an even greater elegance.
Perfecting it, the interior was matched with a comprehensive suite of trim features and materials that elevate Bentley’s renowned hand craftsmanship to an even higher plane.
Apart from that, it was accompanied by its Continental GT Coupe and Convertible siblings, which completes the Mulliner Collections portfolio.
Then, the Coachbuilt portfolio was represented by the development prototype ‘Car Zero’ of the Bacalar project.
Specially created for Monterey Car Week, the Bacalar Car Zero was embellished in a new Scarab green paint and a retrimmed cabin.
With the first examples of 12 highly exclusive customer cars now in build at the Mulliner workshop, the Bacalar was used for demonstration drives with some of its clients.
Besides making a star appearance at ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’, the Bacalar was also exhibited on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
As for the final star attraction from Mulliner, it was the representative of the Classic portfolio in the form of the engineering prototype of the Blower Continuation Series.
Having completed a 6,000-mile (9,656 km) development programme, the Blower Car Zero was run on the roads, covering 350 miles (563 km) around the peninsula every day during the meet.
Alongside the Mulliner showcase were new cars from Bentley’s mainstream product range, which saw the public debut of Bentley’s new hybrid line-up.
Consisting of the new Flying Spur Hybrid and the Bentayga Hybrid, they are a part of Bentley's journey to electrification and a first BEV by 2025.
Overall, the Mulliner family, the Hybrid range, the Unifying Spur and the Continental GT Speed Convertible formed a spectacular display, and Bentley Motors will return to the Monterey Car Week next year, on August 15.
