PEUGEOT LANDTREK - A Pickup Truck That Made Its Name in South Africa
PEUGEOT is increasing its global presence by introducing the new Peugeot Landtrek.
Now, the pickup truck is entering the South Africa market where it is available in 4x2 and 4x4 diesel Double-Cab, which has a selection of petrol or diesel engines.
The PEUGEOT LANDTREK Allure Double Cab 4x2 is ZAR 579 900 (RM151, 632.83). Meanwhile, PEUGEOT LANDTREK Action Double Cab 4x4 is ZAR 669 900 (RM175,166.12).
As the South African calls it, Bakkie has a strong presence in South Africa. On whatever terrain, the new Peugeot LANDTREK is up to the challenge. With its 16-valve variable turbine geometry, the 1.9-litre VGT diesel engine generates 150 hp and 350 Nm when paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 210 hp and 320 Nm. The petrol engine is mated to either a six-speed Getrag manual or a six-speed Punch automatic with Manual, Sport, and Eco modes.
The pickup truck has been tested for more than two million kilometres in all weather conditions and terrain. It has confirmed the robustness and modification of the Peugeot Landtrek are adapted to the needs of the Middle East and Africa customers, including its off-road capabilities, ease of repair and 3.5 tons towing capacity.
With more than three tons of towing capacity available and a payload exceeding one ton, Peugeot Landtrek offers the most spacious cargo bed in its class. The cargo area also has LED illumination and a 12-volt socket that may be used to connect accessories.
Featuring a distinctive exterior, Peugeot Landtrek comes with a vigorous personality that merges well into Peugeot’s current styling designed with a vertical grille incorporating its signature logo “Lion” in the centre and vertical LED lighting signatures.
As for the interior, we can find a 10-inch HD screen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android AutoTM with a 10GB hard drive. The pickup truck, also equipped with the latest generation of comfort features from its SUVs, consists of high-speed connectivity, including "toggle switches" that provide access to all the functions.
According to its automaker, the Landtrek's back seat bench can be folded completely down in a 60/40 split, and the backrests can support a load of up to 100kg when folded down.
There are stylish and comfortable independent seats with a central armrest in the front. A spacious and comfortable passenger compartment with a shoulder room of 1550 mm wide in passenger seats and a knee room of at least 50 mm ensures the comfort of all occupants. With seven grab handles in the passenger compartment, getting on board is simple.
Comfort-wise, drivers get to experience state-of-the-art technology, adaptability, and SUV-like driving pleasure with its sporty two-spoke steering wheel that comes with auto-dual zone air conditioning.
Then, it is also fitted with rear reverse cameras and parking sensors. The off-road camera placed in the passenger rear-view mirror and 360° panoramic vision support the driver when encountering obstacles or narrow lanes.
In terms of safety equipment, the list includes six airbags, ESP, Hill Descent Control, ASR on both 4x2 and 4x4 versions, Lane Departure Warning, Trailer Swing Control, and two ISOFIX attachment points in the rear seats.
The latest Peugeot Landtrek will offer a complete range of customised accessories where more than twenty-eight are available.
