Restoring A Classic Into A Modern-Day Stunner, Nardone Automotive Presents The Porsche 928
Making a classic car look futuristic is no small feat, though a new French-based company, Nardone Automotive, has outstandingly restored a Porsche 928 to perfection.
Nardone Automotive’s designer, Carlo Borromeo, expressed, “The 928 has always been unique in the Porsche cannon, lauded for its technical advancements it earned the designation ‘Car of the Year’ in 1978. It was and still remains a very special car, yet it only achieved roughly 60,000 units in sales during its 17-year production run.”
To begin with, the restoration needed a lot of love as the custom shop had to completely replace the wheels, bumper, lights and lots of bodywork elements.
Exterior-wise, the iconic 928 outlook has been preserved, but now the classic car is much lighter, courtesy of a new lightweight carbon fiber shell.
Interior-wise, it has also been revamped with Foglizzo leather and Alcantara, a Hi-Fi audio system, and the Porsche Classic Management System that comes with Apple CarPlay.
Then, under the hood, the factory V8 engine has been tuned to 400 hp and married to a modern 6-speed manual gearbox with a limited-slip differential.
The chassis setup also gets a reformed front and rear axle, spindle, an actively controlled electronic suspension, an improved braking system, a modern ECU and adaptive electric power steering.
Borromeo concluded, “The 911 correctly receives endless attention from the customization community, but we felt it was time to shed light on the 928 platform and give it the love that it deserves.”
