Brabus tunes the Mercedes-Benz EQS with more range

Renowned as a specialist Mercedes-Benz tuners, Brabus has delivered its fair share of bonkers, high-horsepower Mercs over the years. However, the tuning firm has taken a more toned down approach if its latest effort involving the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric luxury fastback is anything to go by.

In fact, Brabus has left the Merc EQS’s original electric powertrain untouched, focusing its ‘tuning’ efforts on aerodynamic efficiency instead. Through a new ECU module, Brabus has tweaked the EQS’s air suspension by dropping its ride height by 15mm up front and 20mm at the rear.

Said air suspension tweaks are matched with a selection of new 20- to 22-inch wheel design options that includes a striking and retro-esque Monoblocks, as well as a sleuth of carbon fibre add-ons such as a rear spoiler and a new front lip.

Notably, the exterior add-ons mentioned aren’t just for show. Brabus has invested time in wind tunnel tests for all of these, and they helps improve the EQS’s drag coefficient (Cd) by 7.2%. According to Brabus, the tuned aero and air suspension should deliver approximately 7% more range.

Do the math at that means Brabus’s tuning promises to boost the EQS’s claimed maximum 782 km range ability (WLTP, EQS450+) up to 834 km – a sizeable 55 km bump.

Besides the suspension, wheels, and aerodynamic bits, Brabus have also prepared a selection of trims to jazz up the EQS’s interior further. This catalogue includes things like light-up scuff plates, aluminium or carbon fibre pedals, and some ‘high quality floor mats’.
