Freddie Mercury’s Rolls Royce, A 1974 Silver Shadow Slated For Auction
Attention all collectors and aficionados. The legendary rocker, the frontman of Queen, Freddie Mercury’s 1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow is slated for auction.
It will be sold by RM Sotheby's auction house this 5 November in London, and the proceeds will be used to help victims of the war in Ukraine and build a hospital in Lviv.
Outstandingly, this 1974 Silver Shadow is still in the same combination it came with when it first hit British roads in June 1974.
Powered by its original engine, a 6.75-litre V8, and an exterior cloaked in Silver Chalice hue, which is complemented by a blue themed cabin.
According to duPont Registry, the premier exotic and luxury car marketplace, this 1974 classic was first owned by Freddie Mercury in 1979.
While there is no information about other owners prior to that year, it is believed to have been bought by his company, Goose Productions Ltd.
Ironically, throughout his possession, the rockstar never drove the Silver Shadow himself, always by his chauffeur, as he never got a full driving license.
After his passing, Mercury’s sister was said to be using the car for a while, before selling it in 2013 with 62,000 miles (99,779 Km) on its odometer.
That said, legend has it, when the iconic rocker, Freddie Mercury was still alive, he had a garage stocked with luxury cars of the era, ranging from a Lincoln, Daimler and many more.
