- BYD Ships Its 3 Millionth New Energy Vehicle
BYD has produced and delivered 3 million new energy vehicles (NEV). This vehicle happened to be a pure EV, its highly anticipated EV sedan, the BYD Seal.
It conducted an event at its Shenzhen headquarters to commemorate the 3 millionth vehicle that rolled off the assembly line. Wang Shuang, a leading women's football player, received the BYD Seal.
BYD's NEV production path has been pretty interesting, and the magnitude of its production ramp-up is still in the early stages.
It took the company 13 years to produce its first million NEVs. It only took 18 months to go from one million to three million NEVs. The final million took only six months!
BYD produced approximately 217,000 NEVs in October, including 103,000 pure battery EVs. These models include the BYD Dolphin, Seal, and Atto 3.
The company's success in its home market has led to its expansion into a number of other countries, with Australia being among the first to see pure EVs from BYD.
Thousands of local orders have been placed in Australia in response to the debut of the BYD Atto 3, underscoring the need for additional cheap EVs in this market.
BYD became Australia's second best-selling EV brand last month in October, and that lead is only expected to grow as EV deliveries speed up.
With the ramp-up of NEV production and mass exports to Australia and Europe just getting underway, BYD is a brand to keep an eye on as Australia works to decarbonize transportation and fulfil emission reduction targets.
There aren't many ground-up EVs that come close to what the BYD Atto 3 offers at the price it does, according to our reviews in Sydney and Melbourne.
That's before their newer models, such as the one delivered as the 3 millionth car and the even more cheap BYD Dolphin hatchback, arrive on the shores.
Many of these EVs from BYD and other low-cost brands would be great for fleets who need more EV options to convert and help reduce the number of ICE vehicles on our roads.
