Vinfast Delivered 999 Vehicles to US, Including VF 8 SUV
VinFast, a manufacturer of electric cars in Vietnam recently announced that it has sent the first batch of its vehicles to the United States and latest by the end of December this year, customers shall receive their vehicles.
Aside from that, a total of 999 vehicles being shipped also capped a five-year effort to establish an auto production hub in the Southeast Asian nation for markets in North America and Europe. By now, if you’re wondering why there are 999 fleets of vehicles, well here’s the reason. Apparently, the number aforesaid is considered as a lucky number in its home bound as confirmed by Vinfast officials.
Anyhow, according to VinFast CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy, some of the VF 8 electric SUVs being transported will go to the U.S. car subscription service Autonomy, while the rest will go to retail buyers who have ordered the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the CEO stated that the second batch to the US will be done somewhere in January next year. Currently, a manufacturing plant is being built in North Carolina which at the moment is still waiting for approval from local officials.
VinFast reported last week that Autonomy had placed its largest corporate order so far amounting to 2,500 electric vehicles. Also, around 65,000 has been booked worldwide and the car brand aims to sell 750,000 EVs per year by 2026.
The North Carolina factory project is running months behind schedule, based on the company's initial targets. This added to the first shipment of EVs was short of the initial goal to deliver as many as 5,000 cars built at its factory in Haiphong by December.
