2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE Lands in Malaysia – 292 HP, 669 KM Range, From RM419K!
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has officially launched the all-new EQE 350+ EV. As MBM’s latest EV offering, this mid-size all-electric saloon is poised to further expand MBM’s EQ line-up, which currently comprises the EQA, EQB and EQC SUVs, as well as the flagship EQS luxury saloon.
The 350+ variant sees the EQE boasting a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 292 HP and 565 NM to drive the rear wheels. Juicing said powertrain is a 90.56-kWh battery pack with ten separate modules, which also provides the EQE 350+ a maximum travel range of up to 669 KM (WLTP). All in, this powertrain setup accelerates the EQE 350+ from nought to 100 KM/H in 6.4 seconds and a governed V-Max of 210 KM/H.
The EQE 350+ supports both AC and DC charging. With the 11 kW-rated AC charging, it’ll take around 8 hours and 15 minutes for the EQE 350+ to charge from 10% to 80%. Meanwhile, the 117 kW DC fast charging enables the EQE to be charged from 10% to 80% in only 32 minutes.
In terms of design, the EQE strikes a very close resemblance to its bigger sibling, the EQS luxury saloon, as both cars share similar underpinnings, namely the EVA platform – Mercedes-Benz’s proprietary EV platform. Its front fascia features smart DIGITAL LIGHT headlights with adaptive high-beam assist plus, flanked on either side of its front ‘grille’.
With an addition of AMG line styling package and shorter wheelbase, as well as its slightly flared wheel arches, the EQE poses a sportier stance compared to the EQS. Those flared fenders come handy, as the EQE 350+ rides on relatively big 19-inch AMG alloy wheels. The addition of said AMG line package also sees the EQE donning a sporty looking AMG bodykit.
Inside the EQE lies a futuristic and modern cabin design, featuring a massive MBUX hyperscreen at its backlit front dash. The addition of the AMG line package gives the EQE’s cabin some sporty features, such as its sporty powered front seats, AMG floor mats, AMG aluminium pedals, as well as sporty flat-bottom steering wheel draped in Nappa leather. Said front seats are equipped with four-way lumbar support and heating function.
Aside from the AMG steering wheel, the driver will also get an OLED instrument cluster display, as well as an additional heads-up display (HUD) that projects essential driving information such as driving speed and collision warnings.
The MBUX multimedia system comes with novel fingerprint scanner for access to an array of MBUX functions, including the MBUX Navigation Premium with live traffic information, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as other pre-installed MBUX Entertainment offerings. Topping off the EQE’s multimedia offerings is the Burmester’s 3D Surround sound system.
Illuminating the EQE’s cabin is the active ambient lighting, as well as its backlit front dash with laser-cut Mercedes stars design on it. All of its five seats are draped in a blend of ARTICO man-made leather and MICROCUT microfiber upholstery, finished in two-tone hues of Black and Space Grey.
As a cutting-edge EV, the EQE 350+ comes with a full-swing of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features in the form of Mercedes-Benz’s Driving Assistance Plus package and additional Parking package. Said package includes staple ADAS features like Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, evasive manoeuvre support and many more. The additional Parking package equips the EQE with a 360-degree camera and Active Parking Assist function.
Other standard safety features such as the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system, PRE-SAFE system and many more.
The fully-imported (CBU) 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ commands a price tag of RM419,888 OTR sans insurance. Orders are open now, but considering we’re already in late December, deliveries are expected to commence by early Jan 2023. For comparison, its closest local rival, the BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport is priced lower at RM 389,800 OTR.
Folks, what do you think of the all new Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+? Will it edge over the BMW i4 and take the mid-size EV saloon crown? As always, leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
