BMW 7 Series Hits 2-millionth Production Mark With i7 EV
BMW has released its two millionth unit of i7 series edition demonstrating its commitment to developing high-end electrified vehicles. The company celebrates this achievement by debuting an i7 xDrive60 with a faux-leather interior painted in cognac to mark the special event.
In its early years, the Bavarian automaker produced the 7 Series in Dingolfing, where the first generation of the opulent sedan made its debut in 1977. Here, the model receives features like ABS, parking sensors, a navigation system, airbags, and many other things.
BMW's Bavarian plant is not only the brand's biggest factory in Europe, but it also produces the 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 8 Series, and iX, among other models. Plus, it is one of the company's more than 30 manufacturing facilities worldwide that are currently finishing up vehicles for the international markets which nearly 250,000 units are produced at the factory each year.
Manager of the Dingolfing plant, Christoph Schroder says the BMW 7 Series is their top model which brings together cutting-edge technology and progressive luxury.
‘’Like no other model, it stands for automotive innovations and now also for our electric offensive in the luxury segment. What makes me particularly proud is that we have been producing it here since it was introduced 45 years ago” he highlighted.
In Malaysia, the BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director Hans de Visser revealed that 10% of the group's 2022 sales belongs to electric vehicles (EVs). This number is expected to increase as well, given the company's recent efforts to build EV charging stations for its clients nationwide.
To make the story more interesting, we also spotted an i7 travelling down a local street plus the firm secretly hosted a private event earlier this year where it gave a limited number of customers a sneak peek at the pre-production i7 vehicle.
With all these stories circulating, it's possible that we will see the BMW i7 debut soon. Stay tuned with Caricarz!
