LEGO Speed Champions Releases The Fast & Furious Nissan GT-R34 In January 2023
An intriguing new set in the LEGO Speed Champions series has appeared online, thus expanding the Fast and Furious movie theme’s line-up here. What initially began with Dominic Toretto’s famed Dodge Charger gets a follow-up in the form of the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) driven by the late actor Paul Walker who played Brian O’Connor in said film franchise.
The set, poised to go on sale in Malaysia starting from January 2023, will feature some of the iconic elements from the movie car, albeit in LEGO form. In an interview by RacingBrick with the Speed Champions Designer, Chris Stamp explained heavy emphasis was placed in capturing the Nissan Skyline’s signature red taillights as they’re the most important aspects of R34-generation Skyline GT-R featured in the film.
The set will also include a minifigure of the late Paul Walker as Brain O’Conner – a much-beloved character from the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Other key aspects to point out is the overall outlook of the model featuring the iconic blue racing stripes over its grey body and decals for the infamous GT-R badge, licence plate, and intercooler water spray up in front.
The interior of this Lego model also manages to pack quite some details as seen on the movie car which includes blue racing bucket seats, three NOS canisters, and gauges all around the dash.
According to Chris, LEGO had to design some new elements to make this model as close to the movie car as possible, core amongst which being the new six-spoke racing wheels. It surely goes without saying, given the popularity of the Speed Champion series in general, combined with the strong Fast and Furious fan base especially for all things Paul Walker, this set will for surely fly off the shelves once released.
