New Hennessey VelociRaptoR 1000 Tuning Pack Announced – 1,000 HP Promised!
Having ‘borrowed’ the supercharged 5.2-litre V8 from the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the Ford F-150 Raptor R (pictured above) is perhaps the King of The Hill as far as performance goes in the Ford F-150 pick-up line up.
This also comes despite the fact that said mill is detuned to a ‘mere’ 700 HP and 867 NM in this truck – it makes 760 HP and 847 NM instead in the ‘hotter’ Mustang mentioned.
But if you happen to be a steely-eyed Texan named John Hennessey, then perhaps said figures are indeed child’s play. This perhaps explains why his firm, Hennessey Performance Engineering, have announced a new upgrade kit for the truck called the VelociRaptoR 1000.
The figures in said pack’s name of course alludes to the heightened new output it promises – at least 1,000 HP. The power bump marks a 40% improvement over the regular F-150 Raptor R’s power output, and it will be matched with a significantly heightened torque of 1,152 NM as well.
Much of this is made possible thanks to the kit’s inclusion of a larger 3.8-litre supercharger unit, a new supercharger belt, as well as upgraded fuel lines and injectors, which improves high-flow induction.
"The Hennessey Velociraptor is the world's best-selling modified performance truck, of which we've built thousands for customers all around the globe,” adds John, who is also CEO of the Hennessey Performance Engineering firm.
“The Velociraptor 1000 raises the performance bar significantly in terms of sheer power. Add in the characteristic supercharger whine and the distinctive exhaust note from the unique cross-plane V8 and the package is unbeatable," adds the exec about this latest kit..
Of course, this truck’s new go-fast talents will get matched with the customary go-fast aesthetics. Expect a more rugged exterior styling, beefier front and rear bumpers, a large LED light bar, as well as a set of Hennessey wheels shod with 37-inch off-road tyres.
Hennessey hasn’t yet revealed pricing for the package, but it is expected to be released sometime next year. For context, the firm currently offers the less powerful VelociRaptor kit in the US at a cost of US$64,950 (approx. RM288,346).
Aptly, said price, which excludes the price of the base car itself, does make the Ford Ranger Raptor launched locally not too long ago at RM259,888 seem a little more… accessible. Wouldn’t you agree?
